Interesting looking music application on the NetBeans Platform, a port of Frinika:
Related thread, from some years ago:
I'd be happy to help with this effort, if someone picks it up again!
Frinika is a great project, but there doesn't seem to be much activity these days. I had some correspondence with the developers last year, partly about the use of JAudioLibs (http://code.google.com/p/java-audio-utils/) due to issues they have with their current JACK bindings. Not heard anything since and the SVN doesn't show much in the last year.
Would be great to see it properly on the NetBeans platform, but unfortunately I don't think that's likely to happen. Still, might have a look at the code myself one day ...
At the time of the NBP initiative there were concerns about ties to NBP, making it difficult choose alternatives like e.g. Eclipse.
But since there haven't been much development going on for the last years (as for me - lack of spare time to work on it), I think it's better to go on with this rather than nothing happening.
So very welcome to pick up the thread again - would be great to see some progress on Frinika! I suppose HajdaM who posted the initiative would be happy to see a followup on it.
