Ruby Development in NetBeans IDE 7.0.1

So take a look in the NetBeans Plugin Manager (which is under Tools | Plugins in NetBeans IDE):

Wow. Thomas Enebo. Isn't that one of the creators of Ruby? And that plugin's been in the Plugin Portal a while now. Just go ahead and install it in NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 and Bob's your mother's brother:

In August, I wrote Thomas Enebo an e-mail with the subject line "How are things with the NetBeans Ruby plugin?" And his response was: "It largely works with 7.0.{,1}, but there is a console bug I don't understand.  I have not been spending the time I should, but I have been pumping up the JRubyParser project so that I can kill ties to an older version of JRuby that is still stuck into the NetBeans Ruby source. A new user is also stepping up to the plate, so that may yield some fixes."

So, seems to me the Ruby plugin is reasonably solid. Give it a try.

I will install netbeans 7 and I will try to follow your tips.

I just had install the NBU 7.0.1 and the RoR plugin. I'm very happy, NB is my preferred IDE for RoR.

I tried the plugin on Windows XP, version 2002, SP3:
- Netbeans 7.0.1; Product Version: NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 (Build 201107282000)
Java: 1.6.0_27; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 20.2-b06
- ruby 1.9.2 (ruby 1.9.2p290 (2011-07-09) [i386-mingw32])
- rails 3.1.1 & all the needed gems

and Netbeans every time stayed blocked at 25% of processing, no matter when creating a new RoR project 'from scratch' or from existing sources.
The only way to exit was via 'Task manager' and 'kill' the process.
Nevertheless, a new app skeleton was created.
