Finalized Cover of Brand New NetBeans Platform Bible!
By Geertjan-Oracle on May 06, 2009
The book itself is now at the printer. I.e., the next stage has been reached and there's no going back! It is scheduled to be available at JavaOne, where it will also be available at a book signing. Unfortunately, Heiko himself will not be there, but I will, and so will Sven, one of the other translators.
I've said it before and I'll say it again—this book is a MUST HAVE if you are using the NetBeans Platform. (I stand to gain nothing whatsoever financially from sales of the book, hence I have no interest in promoting it other than that I know that it is a very good thing indeed.) A nice additional bonus is several pages of introduction to the book, which were not there in the original, by Jaroslav Tulach, Tim Boudreau, myself, and most of the other translators who worked on this book.
Click the cover below to see it in larger size. Again, this is exactly how it will be when you're holding the book yourself:
Also note the "Related Titles", on the back of the book. The first of the three is Jaroslav Tulach's Practical API Design: Confessions of a Java Framework Architect. It's not a coincidence that that title is the first in the list. That would be a great book to buy together with "Definitive Guide to NetBeans Platform"! That book describes how the NetBeans APIs were created, while Heiko's book describes how to use them!
Many thanks again to Heiko, the many translators, Jim Freeman (our highly recommended editor), and the great staff at Apress.
