Eclipse + NetBeans = Groovy

One of the absolute highlights of my trip to the Grails eXchange last week was... hanging out with Scott Hickey, the main developer of the Groovy plugin for Eclipse. Here's a pic of us in a bar after the first day at the conference; you can't see all the other people around, nor the Black Sheep beer (because I think we were still waiting for it) and the reason that the pic is so grainy is that I couldn't get my flash to work, which was because I had my camera set to 'movie' instead of 'photo', so that I now have a few very short movies, from which I cut the pic below, Scott on the left and me on the right:

It was very cool to talk about Groovy and plugins and IDEs, Scott's insights (as recorded in this blog last week, about debugging Groovy via the Java debugger and about compiling and running Groovy via Ant in NetBeans IDE) were just really practical. Thanks Scott, hope to meet up again soon!

Where is Jeff Brown? His presence in the picture would have caused so much traffic that it would have brought down your server.

    Hi Geertjan,

I have logged a bug resulting when Netbeans is used with JDK1.6 .Bug result from buggy implementation of JoptionPane.showOpenDialog().

Netbeans is taking 2 minutes minimum to select a file in open dialog box (YES TWO Minutes, time increases as no. of folders in side selected folder increases) because there are 40 - 50 folders which represents maven repository.

I have logged a bug 1 week back regarding this issue and didnt even receive a reply, I agree that bug result from JDK and not from Netbeans, but as a User I cannot wait for 2 minutes for folder to open

Will there be any fix for this ? (possible using AWT instead of Swing etc)

What is the issue number? Where can I find it? What's the point of your story if I can't do anything with it?

I've heard about this problem before, seems to be something with the JDK. But... why did you make it an enhancement request? That's probably why no one responded to it. People are fixing bugs right now. I'm pretty sure that nobody is looking at enhancements. For any further queries on this topic, please write to nbusers@netbeans.org. Thanks.
