Rather than exploring Docker Hub on-line, you're able to make use of the Docker integration in NetBeans IDE. This is not in NetBeans IDE 8.1, instead use a development build for the next release. The Docker node is available in the Services window:

Many features are available after you right-click on the Docker node hierarchy:

For example, when you use the Pull command, you can search for Docker images, such as Docker images for NetBeans IDE:

Netbeans on ubuntu and fedora doesn't connect to docker contain.

Netbeans Docker adapter requires that the Docker daemon listens on a local TCP socket, which is not enabled by default.

If you follow the this guide, it's a piece of cake to enable it on Ubuntu: https://coreos.com/os/docs/latest/customizing-docker.html

Another approach is to define default Docker options in /etc/default/docker, as decribed in the official guide: https://docs.docker.com/engine/admin/#/configuring-docker
