Creating my own IDE? Where to start...

Geertjan Wielenga

BOF-2835, on Thursday from 21.30 to 22.20 (Esplanade, 304/306), entitled "Creating an IDE for Your Favorite Web Framework" promises to be interesting. How do I know this? Well, I am one of the co-presenters. Together with Petr Pisl, who is the web-tier tech lead for NetBeans IDE, I've been working on a new IDE, for a specific framework: Wicket. But that's only an example. So, either if you're a Wicket fan, or if you're someone considering creating tooling support for a framework currently not supported by NetBeans IDE, or if you're considering providing an entire IDE for a specific framework... you know where you gotta be on Thursday night. You could also be someone interested in seeing how rich-client application development works in NetBeans IDE. As a teaser, here's the agenda (subject to last minute change, of course):

Hurry and register... we'd love to see you there.

Is this only at JavaOne in SanFran or will it be webcast too?

I'm currently at a client in San Francisco using wicket. do I need to be a registered JavaOne participant (I'm not) to attend?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Rory, yes, I'll make the slides available in PDF format after the BOF.

Jeff, great to hear! However, I do think you need to be a registered JavaOne participant to attend... I could do the demo with you individually on Friday, if you like. We'd need to meet somewhere and I could show it to you. It is at a pretty early stage, so don't expect miracles. However, your feedback would be incredibly valuable, because we're mot exactly Wicket experts and we could do with some input on the stage we've reached so far. Just name the place, any place in San Francisco is as new to me as any other place, so it's all the same to me. Whatever works best to you.

Oops. Didn't actually answer Rory's question... no my guess is it won't be webcast. It's at 21.30 in a back room somewhere.
