Personally I liked the old one as a "Welcome Screen" :-) This one is too contrasting with NetBeans environment IMHO. But for a splash screen it is very suitable :-)

Probably it would look totally different if the whole 'welcome' topcomponent would be in dark colors?

Anyway, very nice artwork :-)

This is too gaudy. Earlier one was better.
