Laptop Upgrade to Nevada b47 - A Few More Things

After working on my upgraded laptop for a little while, I still have no problems to report. Everything has been running smoothly. I realized that I had left a few packages off of my original list. Not to worry however, since it was Blastwave to the rescue (for 2 of 3 at least). The packages that I added were:

With these packages, I was able to backup/synchronize my files and data (which I did) as well as configure things so that I could get to my laptop's desktop from anywhere in the house (which my wife just loves \*grin\*). After this, I also went and created the manual page index files:

# for d in /usr/man /usr/openwin/man /usr/dt/man /usr/sfw/man /opt/csw/man /usr/local/man; do
> cd ${d} ; /usr/lib/makewhatis .
> done

In the course of running a variety of programs, I have encountered several warning messages here and there. I will be checking on these to see if they can be cleared up as they tend to add clutter to some of the terminal windows where I am launching the applications. Everything still works as expected, so it is my impression that the warnings are harmless.

In my next posting, I will go into a little more detail regarding the security configuration of my laptop.

Take care,

Glenn
