Migrate & modernize your workloads now with the Cloud

Eleanor Selby
Communications Specialist Junior Consultant

Even today, some businesses can be skeptical about embracing the cloud due to reasons such cost effectiveness & security. For one customer, a logistics & Wholesale Company, this was the exact concern. The organisation required a new solution for its Essbase controlling application as Oracle Exalytics was no longer supported.

The Challenge:

  • Exalytics no longer supported
  • Introduce a new solution for Essbase controlling application

The company wanted minimal disruption and risk whilst migrating to the cloud, in order to improve agility & performance.

The Solution:

A three-step approach was proposed and resulted in a successful Lift & Shift of the customer’s workload, helping realise the true value of the cloud.

1. Engagement

Oracle Consulting (OC) proved to the customer that moving their workload from on-premises into the cloud would be hugely beneficial.

2. Design project architecture

With the support of the customer a realistic project plan with defined phases and designed Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) architecture was put in place, featuring two separate Essbase environments and supporting features.

3. Implement & migrate

OC enabled a seamless migration of the customer’s development and production environments to OCI. Data and reports were also moved to provide a seamless experience to the customer with reduced effort.

The Outcome:

Key benefits of the migration:

  • Seamless process
  • Increased value & performance
  • Essbase can be used in the cloud without Exalytics

The migration has helped the company modernize workloads & they are now reaping the benefits of the cloud.
