5 Things to Know About Oracle OpenWorld 2014

Heading to Oracle OpenWorld this year? Here are a few things that may come in handy:

1. If you haven't registered yet, be sure to do so by September 26 to avail the $200 discount on registration.

2.  As you may know, San Francisco will be truly Red from September 28 - October 2 - the span of the conference. Oracle OpenWorld 2014 housing block is now available and open for booking. Make sure to get your booking in before the lowest conference hotel rates sold out or while the rooms are still available. The conference offers complimentary shuttles to Moscone Center at regular intervals from or near most of these hotels.

3. Content Catalog is now live. You can now take a look at the sessions being planned by products or solutions. For all things middleware, select "All Products and Services" from the left hand side menu and click on "Middleware". For Oracle AppAdvantage (or Oracle Fusion Middleware for Enterprise Applications), do the search per above and then select "Middleware for Enterprise Applications" under the "Middleware" section.

4. Are you active on social media? Don't forget using these hashtags to discuss OpenWorld, Middleware, AppAdvantage, et al: #OOW14, #AppAdvantage, #FMW, . We encourage you to /CC our accounts to amplify your messages. @OracleMiddle looks forward to hearing from you. And join our growing community on Facebook

5. We have a whole host of sessions on Middleware and Oracle AppAdvantage for you. From customer panels to Hands on Labs (HOL) sessions, Birds of a Feather sessions to technical deep dives and strategy sessions, we have attempted to cover the entire gamut to give you a 360 degree view of Oracle AppAdvantage and Oracle Fusion Middleware. You can  hear from customers that are live with their deployments, those who have only just embarked on their implementation journeys, system integrator and other solution partners who work hand-in-hand with Oracle technologists and our customers to make them successful, Oracle technical experts and of course, our management to hear about our vision, product roadmaps, latest product releases, catch live demonstrations and have interactive discussions with experts at hand.

To make your navigation of Oracle OpenWorld easy(-ier), we have pulled together Focus On documents by solutions. I would recommend looking at:

Best of Middleware @OpenWorld, and

Oracle AppAdvantage for Oracle Applications

Over the course of coming weeks, we'd plan to get you more information on specific sessions and agendas. In the meantime, take a look at these Focus On documents and start planning your OpenWorld itinerary.

Oracle OpenWorld 2013 - WebCenter Highlights

Originally Published on Oracle WebCenter Blog

Author: Christie Flanagan, Principal Product Director, Oracle

As we come to the end of Oracle OpenWorld 2013, I thought I’d reflect on some of my favorite aspects of this truly dynamic event:

Oracle WebCenter Customer Appreciation Reception

This year’s Oracle WebCenter Customer Appreciation Reception was one of our best and definitely a highlight of my trip. The reception moved to a great new venue in 2013, San Francisco’s Old Mint, a National Historic Landmark where the Oracle WebCenter community had the chance to mingle and make new connections. Many thanks to our partners aurionPro SENA, Bluenog, Fishbowl Solutions, Fujitsu, Keste, Redstone Content Solutions and Tekstream for sponsoring!

Oracle WebCenter Customer Success Stories

This year’s lineup of customers participating in Oracle WebCenter sessions was truly impressive. Our various WebCenter customer panel and conference sessions gave everyone the chance to hear real world experiences with various WebCenter products whether Content, Portal, or Sites. Standouts for me (coming from the WebCenter Sites side of the house), were the travel and hospitality brand, Choice Hotels, electrical and network infrastructure solutions provider, Panduit, world renowned football club, Real Madrid, and financial services provider, TIAA-CREF. A special thanks to all our WebCenter customers who put their time and effort into sharing their stories with the broader WebCenter community.

The Oracle WebCenter Community

And that brings me to my final and favorite aspect of Oracle OpenWorld 2013 – the Oracle WebCenter community itself. Oracle OpenWorld is unmatched in providing you with opportunities to interact and engage with other WebCenter customers and WebCenter experts from among our partner and employee communities. It was great to see everyone and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.

While in the City … Get Touristy!

Contributor: Rimi Bewtra, Senior Director, Oracle and a Bay-Area aficionado

When Tony Bennett first sang … “I left my heart in San Francisco”, he may not have known that this song would win him Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Solo Vocal Performance. Yet even back then, San Francisco’s history was full of color and recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  Today, San Francisco, lined with Victorian houses painted in every shade of the rainbow, and cable cars that scale and conquer the steep hills with ease are a testament to San Francisco's unique history.   So even as you take in the Oracle Open World keynotes, sessions, demos and hands-on-lab sessions, we hope you save some time to enjoy our ‘Paris of the West or the city by the bay”, San Francisco.

In between those Oracle Open World activities be sure to. . .

Drive across the “new” San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge!

The “NEW” San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, offers a new driving experience with a side-by-side configuration, opening up panoramic views of the San Francisco bay and the  East Bay hills. From driving beneath a canopy of white suspender ropes to the wider road-decks with shoulders on either side, a drive across the new East Span is nothing like it used to be. Motorists are urged to drive safely and keep their eyes on the road, and let their passengers enjoy the much more picturesque ride.

Raise a Glass, try our California Wines

SPECIAL EVENT: California Wines Road Trip 2013 - at the San Francisco Ferry Building

Catch a ball game – the SF Giants are playing the LA Dodgers
The 2012 World Series Champions, San Francisco Giants-are play the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants versus Dodgers rivalry is regarded as one of the most competitive and longest-standing rivalries in American baseball. This is sure to be an exciting set of games.  Check out the ball game schedule.

Then of course come back see us … at Oracle Open World.  Here’s the Best of Oracle Fusion Middleware.
