We invited Bob Eastman, Research Manager at IDC Retail Insights and Manufacturing Insights IT Strategies, to join us on a webcast and talk through the restaurant POS factors that they considered in the research.
Bob talked about how digital transformation and omnichannel played a large part in IDC’s thinking. Omnichannel commerce and transactional services, such as booking and reservation, omnichannel guest engagement and digital supply chain optimization all offer opportunities for winning new customers and managing costs.
The rate of digital transformation among restaurant operators is particularly interesting. 29% have digital projects in pilot or at proof of concept, and a further 9% are already in production. But 61% have yet to make the move*.
