Delivering Comfort Food When It’s Needed Most

Since 1932, Sibylla has been a staple in Swedish communities, first becoming famous for their hot dogs, or more widely known as “a boiled with bread.” Today, Nordic Fast Food runs over 150 Sibylla restaurants across Sweden, with menus expanded to include sausages, burgers, meatballs, chicken, kebabs and much more. 

While Sweden is not yet in the shelter-in-place situation much of the world is experiencing, Nordic Fast Food understands it may only be a matter of time. In anticipation, the company is quickly pivoting to ensure it can offer ordering via online POS system and contact-free pick up to customers across its properties, so they can continue to rely on the comfort food they have enjoyed for the past 88 years. Sibylla stores are owned and managed by franchisees and their families, many of which pride themselves on being the core of their small communities.

“The health and safety of our guests, franchise partners and community at large are of utmost importance to Sibylla,” said Per Stenlund, acting CEO of Nordic Fast Food. “Our company has weathered many a storm, and we know the importance of making swift decisions in times like these.” 

Sibylla currently offers drive-thru options at 36 sites but had not set up an online ordering system for restaurants or curbside pick-up. In just weeks, the company went from the idea of expanding online ordering and pick-up, to having all locations live and operational. The project was completed with the help of Oracle Food and Beverage and integration partner Pej.

“Like Sibylla, restaurants worldwide are having to shift their business and adjust their business models, often in just a matter of days to stay open, keep staff employed and serve their customers,” added Stenlund. “Working closely with our technology partners we were able to pivot quickly to ensure we will be able to serve our communities in these trying times. It’s inspiring to see how the industry is coming together.”
