Cloud-based POS Systems Gain Popularity at CBORD User Group Conference

Tim Pincelli

For generations, the CBORD group has been trusting Oracle Food and Beverage as its point-of-sale provider and technology partner. A global industry leader in its market, CBORD provides nutrition and food service management to a variety of businesses, including higher education, K-12 education, healthcare and senior living.

Oracle Food and Beverage has attended the CBORD User Group Conference, better known as UGC, for many years. This year’s Annual CBORD User Group Conference was more special than ever as it celebrated 40 years of UGC. Held in Orlando, Florida, from Oct. 20th-23rd, the 40th UGC focused on “reflecting on our shared history while we introduce new ways for you to learn, share, and experience technologies to serve your communities back home.”

I hosted a two-part panel session for the attendees – “The CBORD Simphony Value Proposition.” In these sessions, CBORD executives and I discussed how food and beverage technology is changing and choosing to invest in a best-of-breed POS solution is top of mind for many. And while this transition may be daunting, operators are not alone – together, CBORD and Oracle are working diligently to propel digital transformation. Experts during these sessions discussed how operators can embrace Oracle MICROS Simphony cloud technology and use it to drive revenue, speed up deployment, cut costs, and improve guest and user experience.

Many of those who attended UGC are lifetime Oracle MICROS users, and they are preparing to upgrade to their fourth or fifth generation of our technology. CBORD’s multi-generational buyers are extremely happy with the performance and usability of Oracle Food and Beverage’s product suite, as well as the support that comes standard with our technology. They are ready and excited to make the move to cloud and reap the benefits that come with it.

Oracle and CBORD continue to create new innovations together that help enhance the customer experience. For example, locations are using biometrics-enabled POS devices for identification, and universities are using mobile passports as an official form of student ID and mobile payment. These new technologies are possible due to Oracle’s open API, which allows us to integrate new hardware into our platform.

CBORD and Oracle Food and Beverage have been growing together for decades, and the future of cloud transformation looks bright.
