You might expect that fans in a restaurant POS terminal would be a good thing. Any piece of hardware in a kitchen or front of house or on a patio is going to work hard, often in very hot conditions, and an internal fan inside the device would surely help to keep things ticking.

But choosing POS terminals that contain fans can actually cause you problems. This is because a fan represents an entry point into the device and entry points bring in dirt and other contaminants that could eventually slow your restaurant POS down and cause failure.
