That was quick!

Yesterday, we issued a challenge during our evening keynote at CEC to download the VMware image and get remote replication working between two instances. (This is one of those things that Should Just Work, but we hadn't had the opportunity to explicitly set it up before making the image available.) Thanks and congratulations to Phil Harmon, who took us up on our challenge and proved just how easy it is! But don't take our or Phil's word for it -- download the image and try it yourself!

Hi Fishworks Team,
Great work with this project. Will the software, which is part of the 7000 Storage Systems, be available for download? We just bought a couple of X4440 server with J4200 arrays and it would be great to get all the features from the 7000-boxes on these machines - especially the fency dashboard :-)

Regards,
Jan

@Jan Thanks! Unfortunately, we won't offering the software for download. We're investigating a number o potential upgrade paths for people who have previously bought systems such as the X4540. Keep an eye on this space as we'll certainly post any information that arises.

@Adam: Thanks a lot for the quick answer. An upgrade for the Thor boxes would be perfect. A few weeks ago we ordered two of the X4540 to serve as iSCSI targets. I'll make sure to check the RSS feed of this blog on a regular basis.

Do we have a VirtualBox image floating somewhere?

VBox 2.x can read VMware images.
