Developing With Oracle Enterprise Scheduler Service for Fusion Applications

Concurrent or scheduled processes are programs that run in the background. Common use cases are:
  • Scheduled action: an action needs to be executed at a predetermined schedule
  • Time-consuming action: Users perform an action that could take a long time to finish
Oracle Enterprise Scheduler Service (ESS) provides the ability to manage the complete life cycle of a scheduled process including: development, distribution, scheduling and monitoring. In this whitepaper we will go through an example for ESS development for Fusion Applications including:
  • Creation and configuration of a development environment for ESS development
  • Implementation of a concurrent process
  • Implementation of UI for submitting and monitoring the concurrent process
  • Submitting and monitoring the concurrent process
Comments:

Hi,

I have created a custom job within JDeveloper, following the whitepaper.
Tried several things to deploy the job to Fusion Applications, but it is still not visible in "Manage Enterprise Scheduler Job Definitions".
Doing something wrong.
Have you some guidance how exactly to deploy a custom job to Fusion Applications?

Any help will be appreciated.

Kind regards,
Cor

Sorry for the delay, I have been on an extended leave. Have you review the ESS documentation section on deployment:

Hi Experts,

Need your advise on a requirement.

Whenever we schedule a ESS processes we specify the following:
- Frequency
- Start Date
- End Date

Can you please let us know the ESS related tables which will hold these scheduled jobs along with the above schedule data.

Thanks,
Sanjay

Generally DM details are available at:
https://fusionappsoer.oracle.com

For ESS though the topology may be quite complicated so I think the intended access to runtime details is through APIs such as
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/fusionapps.1111/e10142/webservice.htm
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28271_01/apirefs.1111/e26229/oracle/as/scheduler/RuntimeService.html

I am not sure if you have access to the following support document, but if you do it does provide some details of the DM; Fusion Apps ESS Important Table List (1474725.1). If you have access to the DB you can take a look at the schemas:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29597_01/fusionapps.1111/e16600/provdbinstall.htm#CIHEGDFF

Hi All,

we have one query regarding Ess Job.
Let's say,
we have 2 Ess Jobs "A" and "B".
we are using RuntimeService.submitRequest() to submit Ess job "A" and inside execute method of job "A", we are using RuntimeService.submitRequest() to submit job "B".

Both the jobs have "Authenticated Role" Privilege.

But we are getting an error
"ESS-02002 User <Username> does not have sufficient privilege to perform operation submitRequest JobDefinition: 'Job B'"

Note: If i directly call "B" using RuntimeService.submitRequest() outside the job "A" , it is submitted successfully.

Appreciated Help.

Regards,
Sunil
