When the Walls, Come Tumblin', Tumblin'...

My heart goes out to commuters in the Bay Area, after this mess (luckily, amazingly, no one was hurt). (Also interesting to note that local news here in Colorado first sensationally reported the Bay Bridge itself collapsing.)

I used to commute the Macarther Maze back in the good ol' days when I lived in The City in the 90's, and even back then, it was a white-knuckle kind of drive. Nowadays, my commute is only slowed up by whatever the kids have left on the stairs to the basement, where I've been a telecommuter for years now.

Anyways, some Comms pieces in the works (that should be out before the Maze is fixed nonetheless) that I wanted to plug:

  • Tech article on troubleshooting MTA queues: this paper looks at four common causes for messages building up in the MTA queues, and how you can troubleshoot and potentially alleviate these problems.
  • Tech tip on tuning your Messaging Server MMPs.
  • Updated Evaluation Guide for the new Comms Suite 5 release. (Reminder: Here's the link to the 2005Q4 version.
  • More on the Comms NextGen client, giving you some additional info on our new Web-based client that Jim P. talked about here.
As usual, I'll try and get this info out as quickly as possible to the Comms community. Stay tuned for details.
Comments:

Any timescales on the new web client? We are looking increasingly like jumping ship to Exchange real-soon-now if things don't improve dramatically. That looks like a good step forward but if it's still a year or more away it might be too late :-(

I'm not the official go to guy on product schedules, but let me see what I can dig up, or find out what I can officially say. I do know that this IS a priority for Comms going forward.
