Just a quick note to let you know what I've been working on in Comms Suite land.
- Next Comms Release: As I've been writing about, we're developing a Comms Documentation wiki. To drive the point home once more, all product documentation would be on the wiki (and not on doc.sun.com), and be community editable. (The devil is in the details, of course, but we really want to create a living set of documentation that belongs to the Comms community, is updated often, stays fresh, and so on.) I encourage you to use the Comments section to offer your thoughts on this approach, or to email me directly if you like.
- White paper on how to deploy the MTA with AV/AS services. This topic seems to have some good interest. I'm working with a Sun deployment specialist to develop this paper. Our thoughts are to post a draft on this blog and collect your comments and feedback, to make sure that we've understood all your requirements. Look for this draft very soon.
- White paper on increasing storage for Messaging Server to address the Gmail/Yahoo mail effect (more storage and no mail expiration). I hope that I can share this paper at some time soon. Some very interesting thought shift in how to use Sun products to meet this challenge.
- Another potential solutions paper that I got wind of: Using Java File Manager in conjunction with Communications Express to provide compose capability for sending large attachments: The email is sent with a URL to where the attachment is, which is separately stored.
I've also asked this question in the past, but it bears repeating: as always, if there is information that you'd like to see us working on and developing, let us know. We definitely want to be providing the kinds of documentation that you find most useful.
