Oracle Announces Availability of Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2

Redwood Shores, Calif. – December 17, 2013

News Summary

Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2 further advances Oracle’s leadership in delivering Engineered Systems for running custom and packaged applications with superior performance, while reducing data center cost and complexity. Compared to the previous release, Oracle Exalogic X4-2 provides higher throughput and coupled with Oracle Exabus technology, delivers near native response times for virtualized applications, resulting in greater consolidation benefits. Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X4-2 hardware, powered by Intel® Xeon® processors, provides 50% more cores per node, large amounts of memory and significantly increased flash and disk storage capacity. In addition, the latest release of Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud Software provides the ability to combine different application architectures (bare metal, virtualized and infrastructure as a service) on a single rack and allows customers to leverage virtualization templates and assemblies through Oracle VM Templates and Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder.

News Summary

Oracle’s fifth-generation flagship database machine, Oracle Exadata Database Machine X4, introduces new hardware and software to accelerate performance, increase capacity, and improve efficiency and quality of service for database deployments. The new release focuses on Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Database as a Service (DBaaS), and Data Warehousing and is also designed to help enterprises simplify their biggest database challenges. It includes performance increases between 50 and 100 percent and storage capacity increases between 33 and 100 percent. Quality of service in complex and varying Database as a Service deployments or database consolidation deployments is ensured end-to-end from database servers, through network adapters and network switches, to storage. Oracle Exadata Database Machine X4 is the foundation for modern database cloud environments.

Oracle Database 12c Essentials Exam is now in beta

As of December 2, 2013, partners have the chance to prove their expertise with Oracle Database 12c! The implementation exam is now in beta and open for enrollment. More info and registration here.

This certification is available to all candidates but is geared toward members of the Oracle PartnerNetwork. OPN members earning this certification will be recognized as OPN Certified Specialists. This certification qualifies as competency criteria for the Oracle Database 12c specialization.

Exam vouchers are available for beta testers on a first come-first served basis.
