Friday, 3rd June, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. UK / 11:00 a.m. CEST

Seeing is believing!

Dear Oracle Partners,

Oracle Database 12c includes extraordinary features to help customers reach new levels of availability, performance, security and manageability while reducing capital and operational expenses. Many customers are already enjoying those benefits, but others are still evaluating the benefits to be obtained versus the cost of change.

Now partners have the opportunity to access a complete Oracle Database 12c environment as an Oracle Cloud Service, where you can show your customer all the new features of Oracle Database 12c in action. Customers can test their applications in this environment and see by themselves the benefits that they will obtain.

Oracle is running a webcast for EMEA partners on June 3rd, 2016 at 10:00 am UK / 11:00 am CEST / 12:00 pm Moscow / 13:00 pm Dubai to explain the details of this program.

Julien Dontcheff on the Oracle Compute Cloud Service (IaaS)

Julien Dontcheff, from Accenture, is a very active member of our community. For a very interesting opinion on Oracle IaaS, see the article he has recently published in his blog: "What’s New for Oracle Compute Cloud Service (IaaS)"

Improving SAP performance with Exadata: Wumart Stores

After in-depth evaluation and comparison of various vendors, Wumart Stores implemented Oracle Exadata to replace its IBM servers and storage appliance. It also migrated four Oracle Databases for SAP applications, including ERP core, and extended its warehouse management and business warehouse to Oracle Exadata. Wumart Stores completed the entire project—from design to implementation—in just three months and went live with the new platform on time and within budget.

"By consolidating 92% of our IBM servers and four databases onto a single Oracle EXADATA Database Machine, we gained an integrated, high-performing private cloud platform to support e-business growth.  We can process online orders 8x faster, and reduced operating costs by over US$100,000 per year. " – Zheng Tao, Head of IT, Wumart Stores, Inc.

Oracle ASM Considerations for Exadata Upgrades (Updated for X6) - Technical White Paper

ASMExaUpgrades

The Exadata product family consists of different machine configurations with various disk, flash and memory attributes. There is a well-defined upgrade path for each configuration. There is usually a period of time between the original purchase and an upgrade, and it is likely that the upgrade components will be different from the original components. This paper explains the upgrade options, and provides guidance and examples from an Oracle ASM perspective for planning deployments to accommodate the generational changes in Exadata technology. This paper assumes a single cluster and storage expansion within that cluster. This paper does not take into consideration the deployment of Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM) on Exadata and its impact on sharing of ASM storage servers. This paper has been updated to reflect the relevant changes in the recently announced Exadata X6

Exadata Statement of Direction (Updated for X6)

With thousands of Exadata deployments globally, that include the top banks, telecoms and retailers, one common question for customers invested and interested in Exadata is where the Exadata technology is headed in the near future. The "Exadata Statement of Direction (Updated for X6)" is intended to outline the general product direction for Oracle Exadata, so that customers can feel reassured that they will continue to get significant returns on their Exadata investment for the foreseeable future.
