Reconnecting the Customer Community—Oracle Primavera Special Interest Group
By Sylvie MacKenzie, Director, Marketing-Oracle on Aug 17, 2012
As long as Oracle’s Primavera has existed, customers of the family of applications have benefited from networking with each other—sharing their successes, best practices, and product experiences. The Oracle Primavera Special Interest Group (OPSIG) plays a key role in continuing that tradition. As a part of the Oracle user group community, the OPSIG is run by customers for customers and offers a venue to share best practices, tips, and tricks, as well as interact with Oracle product and customer support teams.
In addition to running regular Webinars featuring Primavera product and customer success presentations, the OPSIG is also responsible for organizing Primavera’s presence at the marquee Oracle user group event, Collaborate. At the recent Collaborate12 conference in April, more than 350 attendees enjoyed 50 sessions discussing Primavera’s enterprise project portfolio management (EPPM) vision, products, and customer successes. Over the course of the conference, customers shared ideas, made new contacts, and learned more about the products they use to make projects successful.
“Collaborate has become our watershed event,” said Daniel Williams, president of the OPSIG. “We more than doubled our Primavera session attendance since 2011 and we expect even more participation next year, as our OPSIG membership continues to grow. It’s the users that make this group and Collaborate such a success.”
Collaborate attendees also participated in a product enhancement session, where OPSIG leaders presented the enhancement requests for Oracle’s Primavera P6 applications; Primavera Contract Management, Business Intelligence Publisher Edition; and Primavera Risk Analysis that were previously collected from members via a biannual survey to members of Primavera’s product strategy team. The next enhancement session will be presented at an OPSIG session at Oracle OpenWorld, following the collection of member feedback later this summer.
