Watching: ObjectWatch earns patent for minimizing the complexity of large IT systems
By Eric A. Stephens on Aug 04, 2010
One of the key ideas within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) is simplification. There is even an architecture principle within the OEAF (Oracle's EA Framework) and TOGAF around "Controlling Technical Diversity". I took the liberty of assigning the tagline "Less is More" to this principle. And I think its true. We look at these huge "glommograms" depicting legions of systems and their associated connections that make the best printers catch fire. Even the untrained eye can see the complexity. But how to reduce it is yet another matter.
Roger Sessions appears to have "cracked this nut" by applying mathematics to the problem of IT complexity. I invite you to take a peek at his press release on the topic.
