Oracle Launches Oracle Exadata Database Machine X4

Oracle’s fifth-generation flagship database machine, Oracle Exadata Database Machine X4, introduces new hardware and software to accelerate performance, increase capacity, and improve efficiency and quality of service for database deployments. The new release focuses on Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), database consolidation, and Data Warehousing and is also designed to help enterprises simplify the biggest database challenges. It includes performance increases between 50 and 100 percent and storage capacity increases between 33 and 100 percent. Quality of service in complex and varying consolidated environments is ensured end-to-end from database servers, through network adapters and network switches, to storage.

HOPE V Extended until December 31st 2013

The current version of HOPE (HOPE V) has been extended to December 31, 2013 to allow a few extra weeks to obtain approvals for its successor, HOPE VI. All other Details of the HOPE V announcement from June 6th (Products, Configurations, Discounts etc.) remain unchanged.

Oracle Releases Oracle Linux 6.5

With Oracle Linux 6.5, the latest Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 3 is installed as the default kernel, enabling customers and partners to test, validate and certify against the most up-to-date Oracle Linux distribution.
Freely available for download from Oracle’s Software Delivery Cloud, Oracle Linux 6.5 features full integration with DTrace, support for Linux Containers, and InfiniBand updates.
Oracle Linux 6.5 also includes new security features such as: the ability for applications to share a cryptographic data store that crypto toolkits can use for processing trusted certificates; and smartcard authentication support in a larger number of application subsystems for single sign on (SSO).
Oracle Linux provides the performance and reliability to support business-critical workloads such as Oracle Database 12c, and is available on all x86-based Oracle Engineered Systems.

Announcing New Pricing for StorageTek LTO 5 and LTO 6 Drives

We’re pleased to announce lower pricing for StorageTek LTO 5 and StorageTek LTO 6 tape drives for the StorageTek SL150 modular tape library. The change will increase the competitiveness of the SL150 in the entry tape market. LTO drives sold into new and existing StorageTek SL150 are now a full 50% off of existing pricing. This announcement affects both ATO and PTO drives for the StorageTek SL150 library. Base library configurations that ship with 1 drive are not affected by the pricing change.
