Oracle Database Beats Microsoft SQL Server in DBA Productivity By 49%

According to a recent in-depth cost comparison study conducted by leading research firm ORC International, shows that Oracle Database 11g Release 2 is easier to manage and less complex than Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Release 2. The study measured both time and step complexity for several common database administrative tasks and found that Oracle allowed organizations and DBAs to:

  • Perform administrative tasks 49% faster
  • Save time with 46% fewer steps for the same set of standard routine functions
  • Increase productivity and save businesses up to $58,800 (USD) per year per DBA by using Oracle Database 11g over Microsoft SQL Server 2008
