Oracle Fusion HCM RapidStart Specialist 'Guided Learning Path' published

At the end of February 2013, Oracle published in the OPN Competency center the 'Guided Learning Path' to attain Fusion HCM Rapid Start Specialization. Although this may not seem like a big thing, it actually is the first step towards a larger set of OPN Fusion Apps Specializations that are mandatory for Partners to obtain Reseller rights for Oracle Fusion HCM and Taleo. Passing the assessment after completing the GLP is one of the conditions that are subject to partner obtaining Reseller rights. The necessary contract addendums, IP of Rapid Start components and FUDA Cloud Services Addendum, are currently being finalized by Oracle's legal department and should become available in the near future.

On Fusion Rapid Start:

The Fusion HCM RapidStart Program is the methodology component of the ongoing Fusion HCM SaaS Rapid Implementation (RI) Initiative which focuses on quickly delivering immediate value to Oracle's and partners' customers with known and predictable scoping, scheduling, and pricing.

A key component for achieving RI objectives is to implement HCM products using a methodology which focuses on quickly delivering immediate value to our customers with known and predictable scoping, scheduling, and even pricing. RapidStart implementation offerings are designed to simplify and accelerate the adoption of Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Services with predictable costs and within reliable time frames.

It is Oracle’s expectation that partners will leverage RapidStart as a baseline to build upon and offer their own differentiated and value-added services, to support the customers throughout the lifecycle of their adoption of Fusion HCM, well beyond the RapidStart phase. The program is a foundation for partners to quickly implement one or more HCM applications out-of-the-box and sets the stage for managing future releases and introducing extended functional capabilities.

Please keep an eye on the OPN Portal for publication of more details on HCM Rapid Start or send an email to

Oracle Releases PeopleSoft 9.2

Oracle has announced that PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.2 as well as PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 and Supply Chain Management 9.2 will be generally available Friday, March 22.

With this new release, Oracle demonstrates its commitment to continue to invest in PeopleSoft by including more than 1,000 new features, functions, and enhancements in PeopleSoft 9.2. PeopleSoft 9.2 delivers an innovative new user experience, expanded product functionality, while helping to reduce total cost of ownership. As with PeopleSoft 9.1, Oracle plans to continue to deliver new capabilities on top of PeopleSoft 9.2 via Feature Packs. PeopleSoft 9.2 also leverages important new technology capabilities delivered in PeopleTools 8.53.

With the delivery of PeopleSoft 9.2, Oracle will simultaneously provide upgrade scripts as well as the multi-language version of this release, a first for PeopleSoft applications. This enables PeopleSoft customers around the world to immediately begin implementing PeopleSoft 9.2 and reap its benefits sooner.

A number of customers and partners have been working with Oracle as early adopters of PeopleSoft 9.2 and have already started their implementation and upgrade projects. Some of these customers include: AARP, Caterpillar Inc., Daimler, Franklin Templeton Investments, Washington University in St. Louis, Westfield, and Verizon. Partners working with Oracle include: Accenture LLC, BTR Group, Cardinal Point Solutions, Cognizant, CSC, Deloitte Consulting, Ellire, GreyHeller, Huron Consulting Group, Infosys, KPMG, MIPRO, Newbury Consulting Group, PwC, Regents Consulting LLC, SmartERP Solutions, Succeed Consultancy LLC, Wipro, and Zanett.

De-risking upgrading to PeopleSoft 9.2

One of the most important innovation for HCM Partners is PeopleSoft Update Manager. Designed to reduce the cost to stay current, customers (and implementation partners for that matter) can:

  • Define change packages so they are tailored to their specific needs
  • Apply maintenance on their schedules
  • Get current regardless of prior maintenance levels
  • Streamline maintenance processes
  • Minimize costs and disruptions associated with applying maintenance (e.g. regression testing) and maximize the impact of desired updates

Many more new features have been implemented in PeopleSoft 9.2 that we cannot mention in this blog. However, the most important feature is de-risking the upgrade path, which should help your as HCM Partners more comfortable when proposing an upgrade to PeopleSoft 9.2 to one of your customers.

Stay tuned for more news on this exciting new release... For now, please visit the web pages that were designed to familiarize yourzelf with PeopleSoft 9.2 HCM Applications.

Oracle finalizes acquisition of SelectMinds in EMEA. Why is this relevant for HCM Partners?

Oracle's latest acquisition in the Human Capital Management space, SelectMinds, has reached completion in EMEA. Although SelectMinds as a company did not have operations in Europe, the significance and business potential of this acquisition for HCM partners across the region is huge: SelectMinds adds sophisticated social referral and sourcing capabilities to already powerful Taleo Recruiting.

SelectMinds' TalentVine product has been rebadged under Oracle's Taleo brand of HCM Cloud Services: Taleo Social Sourcing. Taleo Social Sourcing extend the reach and reduce the costs of recruiting by leveraging company employees and their social networks.

Taleo Social sourcing alOracle Taleo Social Sourcing Cloud Service allows you to increase employee referrals using social media, run targeted recruitment marketing campaigns and easily post open jobs to Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Taleo Social Sourcing provides answers to questions like:

  • How do employees refer qualified candidates today to your organization?
  • What do you do to build passive candidate pools
  • How do you leverage social media in your recruiting process? (FB, Twitter, etc)
  • What role does social media play in building your corporate brand? How do you advertise your vacancies to corporate followers?
  • What is your vision for social recruiting?

Most of you -Oracle HCM Partners- will get questions like the above preceded by "How can I..." from your customers. Oracle now provides a comprehensive solution that can be sold either stand-alone, in a Fusion HCM context but also in EBS HR, PeopleSoft or even SAP accounts! Opportunities everywhere and a perfect 'foot-in-the-door'

One of the top-priorities of Oracle Product Development is to increase the pace of localization of Taleo Social Sourcing. At acquisition time, only English was available for this cloud service. Oracle expects to add the main (Western) European languages around this summer with languages from Eastern Europe and MEA to follow in the 2nd half of this year and beyond.

The SelectMinds GTM & Partner Playbook can be found on the OPN Taleo Cloud Service Knowledge zone and can be viewed and downloaded by Knowledge Zone Community Members. Taleo Social Sourcing Collateral can be found here.
