How To Work with the Oracle BI & EPM Sales Teams

If you could see into the future, you could obviously do rather well.

To help us do just that, specifically in terms of us collaborating as Partner and Oracle Sales teams, it really helps if we can get visibility of each other’s sales forecast and pipeline. We all get many benefits from this to help us coordinate scarce resource on key deals, to ensure we anticipate skills needed to ensure client success, and to efficiently go to market in a joined up way.  We can also work more effectively in joint marketing initiatives, such as the "Test Drives", by tracking the sales leads we get together.

You of course can additionally benefit from referral fees, our rebate programme and help protect your resell pipeline. Even if you do not plan to resell, registering your “co-selling” opportunities puts you consistently in front of the Oracle sales teams as a pro-active partner; highlighting your profile to maximise sales collaboration. We call this the “Open Market Model” (OMM).

For example if you need to get access to an Exalytic system for a pilot / proof-of-concept for one of your clients, then we need this opportunity to be flagged up in our sales forecast by you to “create a registration” by submitting this as a new opportunity in the Global PRM portal.

So, make the most of being a Specialised BI/EPM Partner by registering all of your OMM opportunities as soon as possible, both re-sell and co-sell, using the global Partner Relationship Management (Global PRM) system. Already have access? - then login to Global PRM and select “Create Registration” to submit a new opportunity.

If you are new to the Open Market Model (OMM), it is a comprehensive OPN channel engagement strategy designed to provide you with maximum opportunities to earn revenues with Oracle: see here for more on how to register leads with Oracle.

How To Get OPN “Specialized” - Business Intelligence & Hyperion

OPNIn 2012 it is imperative that you get you and your company recognised and branded as an “Oracle BI / EPM Specialized Partner”. This will bring more business to you.

For implementation specialist consultants from Oracle partners, we have proctored (supervised) exams for OBIEE, Essbase, Hyperion and BI-Apps. These are high-stakes exams and therefore only delivered with an invigilating proctor. These exams are offered at Pearson VUE testing centres and some Oracle University training locations, which are located in many EMEA major cities: see the links below for more details.

To get certified as Specialized, check the Business and Competency Criteria for each specialization area and take the Assessment Tests:

For EXAMPLE: OBI for Implementation Specialists Exam

  • You may register for Oracle certification exams with Pearson VUE here .
  1. On the Pearson VUE page click “MY ACCOUNT” – register and / or login
  2. Then “SCHEDULE A TEST”;selecting the exam “1Z0-526-ENU: "Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation 10.1.3 Essentials, and schedule a place and date to do this.
  3. Or for BI-Apps, choose : “Oracle Business Intelligence Applications 7.9.6 for ERP Essentials” (1Z0-525-ENU)

You need to supply the following information when registering:

  • your company’s OPN Candidate ID number,
  • your business/company email address,
  • your company’s name.
  • please refer to the downloadable .pdf online instructions, describing how to manage to have your:

    - Company ID included into your personal Pearson Vue profile

    - account mapped with your Pearson Vue account (Certview)

If you do not know your company’s OPN Company ID number you can obtain this ID by contacting your local Oracle Partner Business Centre.

NOTE – this is a test on the 10g version of OBI, so you do not need to know 11g capabilities. There is no 11g test yet, and you should take this 10g test now. This 10g test will certify you for 12 months, and you should anticipate taking the 11g exam in a year’s time. If you need to revise and catch up on the OBI 10g training, the course material is available to download at these URL links:

And you can check the questions and Exam Topics that will be asked in the exam in the study guides below.
