Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service Available

As part of our overall strategy for Comprehensive Analytics in the Cloud, the Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS) is now available: read the essentials in this BICS eBook and view this 3-minute video introducing BICS key concepts, features, and benefits. And here is the Press Release.

  • The price of this service to your clients starts at $3,500 per month for 10 users (including the necessary Database service, and before any discounts).  Additional BICS users are $250 per month each.

Also see this great library of online “How to use” Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service Videos and Tutorials. And you may like to see what Mark Rittman has to say in his blog @ Introduction to Oracle BI Cloud Service.

Partners may find that some of their client Business users, faced with overwhelming amounts of data and shorter decision cycles, have taken BI into their own hands. These Business users are using cloud technologies with user oriented tools and less reliance on IT to create their own “shadow” BI projects.

Oracle BICS will help LOB Business users remain agile while adhering to corporate strategy and help IT in maintaining security and compliance. Cloud technology will redefine the role of Partners and IT; with BICS strengthening the LOB/IT partnership. Partners can download our summary sales guide, plus two self-playing BICS “demo viewletsfrom the BI-partner-community shared portal (for access to this portal, email Mike.Hallett@Oracle.com with your company email id and OPN membership status).

To exploit your partnering opportunity, start at the Oracle Cloud Marketplace Partner Portal, and also review the Oracle Cloud Computing Programs & Specializations FAQ for Partners. In the OPN Knowledge Zone there’s a video in the “What’s New” section: Cloud Resell and Referral program which you can review as well to become familiar with how these programs work.

To resell BICS you must:

a)     Be BICS Specialized

b)     Develop and obtain approval for your BICS Fixed Scope Implementation template

c)     Sign the Partner Contract agreements:

  • FUDA (ORACLE PARTNERNETWORK FULL USE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT), once,
  • CSDA (CLOUD SERVICES DISTRIBUTION ADDENDUM ), once,
  • OCSA (ORACLE CLOUD SERVICES AGREEMENT: between Oracle and each customer).

Until you achieve your Business Intelligence Cloud Service specialization, we encourage you to refer sales leads to Oracle and receive compensation, as explained in the FAQ

The material to prepare for and take the partner specialization exam will be posted soon at the OPN BI Specialization page. For partners that are already specialized in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (on-premises software) you will need to have a minimum of two individuals meet the new “BICS specialist” role:

For partners that aren’t yet specialized in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (on-premises software), you need to complete the OBI specialization set plus the new BICS criteria.

If you have a client to whom you want to propose BICS, please contact either Mike.Hallett@Oracle.com or Gherardo.Infunti@oracle.com for any help you may need.

SaaS or Rental: What is the difference ?

In these days of cloud computing there is much talk of flexible commercial models to match the potential from more flexible technology architectures.  Software as a Service (SaaS), Rental or Managed Services are among the many labels variously applied to potential commercial models offered to customers: so how can you as an Oracle BI / EPM Partner best respond when your client asks for this kind of approach ?

In many cases when I get into this conversation, I find most customers are very happy when I explain they can rent Oracle software, for example, for one year.  It is really simple.

If you want to find out more, then download this BI & EPM Partner Guide to renting Oracle software
