Upgrade Your Skills and Customers from OBI v10 to OBI11g

To keep your partner services competitive, you need to prove to our customers that you have the skills and capability to work with the latest version of Oracle OBI11g. Many partners have already upgraded their OPN Certificates from OBI v10 to the new OBI11g Specialisation. If you have not yet done so, then now is the perfect time to get this done over the next few months in preparation for increased demand from clients for partner services to upgrade them from their old v10 systems.

Because standard Oracle support for v10 expires in July 2013, all customers will have even more incentive to upgrade to OBI11g: make sure you are ready to service this demand. For more information see -

There is also a step-by-step hands-on tutorial on the procedures for using Oracle Fusion Middleware Upgrade Assistant to upgrade an existing Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Enterprise Edition 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.2 or later) environment to Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g in a Windows environment on a single machine. Access this here @ Upgrading Oracle Business Intelligence from 10g to 11g.

Remember ! ... Oracle does not charge any licence fee to upgrade from OBI 10 to OBI 11g. The OBI 11g version has many improvements over the OBI 10 version, which the customer gets for no additional cost (as long as they have a current Oracle Support agreement). There are additional new modules (such as the Mobile BI add-on), which a customer may choose to licence after they have done the upgrade: this is entirely optional.

  • San Diego Unified School District Harnesses Attendance, Procurement, and Operational Data with Oracle Exalytics, Generating $4.4 Million in Savings: according to independent assessment by Mainstay Salire, the district is on track to achieve substantial benefits from the Oracle Exalytics solution, including an $8.25 million increase in attendance revenue, $75,000 a year savings in operational efficiencies, and $1 million in hardware cost avoidance.
  • NilsonGroup chooses Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine as their solution to access critical data to keep its stores competitive with real-time Mobile BI: it took only “3 days to get up and running” with Exalytics.  Video
  • Nykredit, in the Danish Financial Sector, describes their experiences from testing the Exalytics Business Intelligence Machine: “it was up and running within 4 days” with “more intuitive dashboards” and “up to 70x better performance” and “cheaper maintenance and lower total cost of ownership”. Be Recognised: Publish your Partner BI&EPM Customer References

What sells? Good products and services are important, but good relationships and customer references open doors and close deals.

Oracle provides funding and resources to help eligible partners and their customers to turn success stories into references. The Oracle Partner / Customer Reference Program showcases partners’ successes with their customers through publishing references. The reference can be a partner snapshot, magazine article, customer forum, video or podcast - depending on the eligibility and opportunity.

To be considered for this Oracle References program, you need to
submit a reference request online.

For example we just published (Jan 6th 2012) this story on Oracle.com, with UK partner Beyond Systems:

University of Hertfordshire Delivers Real-Time Intelligence to Ensure a Successful and Sustainable Business in Increasingly Competitive Global Markets

The University of Hertfordshire worked with Oracle Specialized Gold Partner Beyond Systems Ltd to implement Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition after Beyond demonstrated its detailed knowledge and experience.

“In any BI project, it is always difficult to get the definition right at the start, as users and managers may be unaware of the new system’s capabilities,” said Martin Ayre, data warehouse consultant, University of Hertfordshire.  “We developed a prototype as a starting point, but there was a very steep learning curve. Beyond helped us through this learning curve and brought valuable knowledge and experience to the project. The Beyond team was always helpful, flexible, and understanding to ensure we achieved the optimum efficiency gains from our initial deployment of Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.”
