A data lake is a massive repository that may include semi-structured, unstructured, and even raw data. Analyzing business data has become such a must-have capability that many business leaders turn to data lakes to gain insight and create a competitive advantage.
Data lakes represent the more natural state of data compared to other repositories such as a data warehouse or a data mart where the information is pre-assembled and cleaned up for easy consumption.
Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake's built-in fast layer with Oracle Essbase and Oracle Database Cloud serves the resultant data across the enterprise, delivering fast, interactive visualization and a layer of governance on Big Data. The platform complements existing analytics by giving recommendations for data enrichment and visualization. These are powered by machine learning to make analytics users more productive.
Oracle Analytics Cloud, Data Lake Edition unlocks Big Data analytics at scale on Oracle Big Data Cloud and Apache Spark. It also introduces automatic creation of machine learning models, which can be applied inline to intelligently augment data and data flow creation and execution.
