Answer Big Data Questions – Webinar Series from Rittman

Mark Rittman, ACE Director and all things analytics and big data guru, is running a series of live webinars to answer some Big Data Questions you may be wondering about:

  1. How to Extend and enhance your Data Warehouse to address Big Data? - Register for Extend Data Warehouse - Tuesday 3 November
  2. What is Big Data Discovery and how does it complement traditional Business Analytics? - Register for Discovery webinar - Tuesday 10 November
  3. How to Add Big Data to your Organization to create true 360-Degree Customer Insight? - Register for Customer Insight - Tuesday 24 November

Extending and enhancing your Data Warehouse to address Big Data

Organizations with data warehouses are increasingly looking at big data technologies to extend the capacity of their platform, offload simple ETL and data processing tasks and add new capabilities to store and process unstructured data along with their existing relational datasets. In this presentation we'll look at what's involved in adding Hadoop and other big data technologies to your data warehouse platform, see how tools such as Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Business Intelligence can be used to process and analyze new "big data" data sources, and look at what's involved in creating a single query and metadata layer over both sources of data.

Tuesday 3rd November, 15:00 – 16:00 GMT / 16:00 – 17:00 CET – Register for Extend Data Warehouse

What is Big Data Discovery and how does it complement traditional Business Analytics?

Data Discovery is an analysis technique that complements traditional business analytics, and enables users to combine, explore and analyse disparate datasets to spot opportunities and patterns that lie hidden within your data. Oracle Big Data discovery takes this idea and applies it to your unstructured and big data datasets, giving users a way to catalogue, join and then analyse all types of data across your organization. At the same time Oracle Big Data Discovery reduces the dependency on expensive and often difficult to find Data Scientists, opening up many Big Data tasks to “Citizen” Data Scientists.

In this session we'll look at Oracle Big Data Discovery and how it provides a "visual face" to your big data initiatives, and how it complements and extends the work that you currently do using business analytics tools.

Tuesday 10th November, 15:00 – 16:00 GMT / 16:00 – 17:00 CET Register for Discovery webinar

Adding Big Data to your Organization to create true 360-Degree Customer Insight

Organisations are increasingly looking to "big data" to create a true, 360-degree view of their customer and market activity. Big data technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL databases and predictive modelling make it possible now to bring highly granular data from all customer touch-points into a single repository and use that information to make better offers, create more relevant products and predict customer behaviour more accurately.

In this session we'll look at what's involved in creating a customer 360-degree view using big data technologies on the Oracle platform, see how unstructured and social media sources can be added to more traditional transactional and customer attribute data, and how machine learning and predictive modelling techniques can then be used to classify, cluster and predict customer behaviour.

Tuesday 24th November, 15:00 – 16:00 GMT / 16:00 – 17:00 CET – Register for Customer Insight

For any questions about these webinars please contact Mark Rittman

Small Steps to Big Data BI&EPM Partner Community Forum January 2014

Open to all OPN partners in EMEA, we are running the Business Analytics Partner Community Forum over two days in London, on 16th and 17th January 2014 - Register Now Here.

This forum entitled “Small Steps to Big Data” will focus on discussing with Partners, how best to exploit the tremendous interest in “Big Data Analytics” and to clarify under what circumstances “R” and “Hadoop” are best deployed, and how these co-exist, integrate with, and extend the capabilities of tools you are already familiar with such as Oracle BI, ODI, Endeca and the Oracle Database. We will consider guidelines to hardware deployments, but the main focus of the forum will be how the software inter-operates: with guest speakers from Cloudera, and other partners who have experience in this field.

On the one hand, I do not think “Big Data=Hadoop”. While on the other, Oracle whole-heartedly embraces useful Open Source innovations such as “R” and “Hadoop”: we are, after all, a big player in Open Source with for example JAVA, NoSql and MySql.

You can download the agenda here.  We will seek to answer questions such as:

· How Big is “Big” ? ... at what size is Hadoop’s MPP approach beneficial ?

· What about “Variety” ? ... how do we digest “Any Data” ?

· Who uses this analytics ? ... a few “Data Scientists” or 100s of “Business Users” ?

· How do you spot a “Big Data Analytics” opportunity ?

· If someone is already using Hadoop, do they want to talk to Oracle ?

· What is NEW, and what is Business-as-Usual ?

Audience: This forum will appeal to CTOs, Solution architects and consultants in Oracle Partners familiar with Oracle’s Business Analytics solutions. We will examine the economics and business cases driving “Big Data Analytics” projects, and dive into the pros-and-cons of technology options available to your customers.

· Day 1 – Thursday 16th Jan. 2014: Starts 11.0 am – Sales and Executive briefing.

o Networking Dinner in Evening

· Day 2 – Friday 17th Jan. 2014: Ends 4.0 pm – Deeper dive technical discussions.
