ECM & Architecture
By Kevin Smith-Oracle on May 11, 2009
This is the first post to my ECM & Architecture blog. I will be blogging about Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Oracle's Universal Content Management (UCM) products, ECM architecture and architecture in general.
I'm a Technical Director in Oracle Consulting's Enterprise 2.0 (E2.0) delivery practice. I worked at Stellent for 4 years before joining Oracle in 2007 as part of the Stellent acquisition.
On a lot of projects we are in such a rush to get something implemented that we don't spend enough time thinking through the architecture and planning for future use of the system. You then end up coming back in 6 months or a year and having to redo some of the underlying architecture and infrastructure to accommodate what should have been expected extensions of the system.
In future posts I will talk about why architecture is important and specific features of a good architecture can help make your ECM projects successful.
