I'm very pleased to announce that Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 is now available for download:
Oracle strongly recommends that all E-Business Suite customers upgrade to this release.
For installation instructions for EBS 12.1.3, see:
This release update pack (RUP) combines error corrections, statutory/regulatory updates, and functionality enhancements into a consolidated, suite-wide patch set. This release is a maintenance pack and can only be installed on top of an existing EBS 12.1 environment.
What's New In This Release?
E-Business Suite 12.1.3
includes new product functionality, enhancements to existing
functionality, and fixes for improved stability, security, and
performance. Apps 12.1.3 is a cumulative update that includes all
updates and fixes that were previously released on top of 12.1.1 and
12.1.2.
All E-Business Suite product families and nearly every
product team have released new content in this release. You can find
links to Release Content Documents (RCD) with details about new
features, updates and fixes in the following Metalink Note:
It
also includes new features from the Applications Technology Group and
support for new technology stack components, which I will cover in a
separate article. For those of you eager to get those details now, see
the Applications Technology Release Content Document linked from within
Note 561580.1, above.

Hi Steven,
Glad to see 12.1.3 out also... I was, however, hoping for a full Rapid Install release.
We have a need to have a 12.1.x (12.1.3 makes most sense) Vision demo install... but to get to that level we need to do 12.1.1 install, and patch to 12.1.3 including a load of tech stack updates.
Whilst do-able - for a purely Vision requirement a Rapid Install release would be a lot easier.
Any news or indication (as I know exact dates are often not possible) as to when the next Rapid install release of EBS will be?
Thanks
Des
Steven,
I echo the comment above - any plans for releasing a full media pack for 12.1.3?
thx,
John
P.S. I had someone ask me when 11.5.10.3 was rolling out...after the hysterical laughter and rolling around on the floor, I pointed them to MOS 1116887.1 and 883202.1 and told them to get patching...:-)
Oh well, we tried..
Hi, John, Des,
We have no plans to offer a Rapid Install for 12.1.3 at this point. The next major release of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 is expected to have a Rapid Install, but I can't share details about that right now.
Des,
If you're looking for a 12.1.3 Vision environment and can wait for a bit, we'll have Oracle VM-based templates for those relatively soon. Stay tuned for more news on that front.

Steven

Hi, Syed,
1. I would recommend applying 12.1.3 at your convenience. Some organizations prefer not to be the first to apply any new E-Business Suite release. If that's your organizational policy, you should monitor this blog and our R12-related discussion forums for feedback from your industry peers on their experiences with this update.
2. We have not certified the 10.2.0.3 database with EBS 12.1.3. Remember that Premier Support for 10.2.0.3 ended in Feb 2009. See this externally-published article:
Premier Support for 10.2.0.3 Database Ended in February 2009

I recommend that you upgrade to the 10.2.0.5 or 11.2.0.1 database levels. See this page for pointers to the related articles:

Hi Steven
Thats good news.
We are on EBS R12.1.1 implemented in Feb'2010 (latest release at that point) and are using HR/UK Payroll/SCM/Fin modules.
We recently found out that HR R12.1.3 is a pre-requisite for 2011 UK Payroll Tax Year End patches so need to start patching again...
Having just implemented iRecruitment on R12.1.1. I know there is lots of new functionality in R12.1.2/3 (namely RSS feeds etc...) eagerly looking forward to implementing it..

Hi Steven
Do you know when the Linux 64bit version of R12.1.3 will be released? Or is it just the Linux 32bit patch for both 32 and 64 bit? I couldn't see any clear indication on the R12.1.3 documentation.
Thanks and Regards
Stuart
Stuart-
The answer is yes, the 32-bit and the 64-bit patch are one and the same. Please read the blog article "The Scoop: Oracle E-Business Suite Support on 64-bit Linux" which was written to answer just these sorts of FAQ's:
http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2010/04/ebs_64_bit_linux.html
Here is an excerpt which addresses your 12.1.3 patch question:
***
Q: How do I patch EBS on Linux 64-bit?
A: The EBS 32-bit Linux application tier patches are applicable for 64-bit Linux OSes as well. From the Oracle support portal, you can do a search by patch number to bring up the 32-bit patch. Note that if you click on the informational icon to the left of the Platform pulldown menu for this patch, it brings up a page stating:
For Oracle Applications Release 12 on Linux x86-64, queries will return a Linux x86 patch. This patch may be applied to both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
***
As you may already know, there is a separate Linux 64-bit "base release package" (12.1.1) and there are separate requirements for EBS on 64-bit Linux, which are documented in the Installation and Upgrade Notes:
https://support.us.oracle.com/oip/faces/secure/km/DocumentDisplay.jspx?id=761566.1
Let me know if you have further questions.

Hi Steven,
Thanks for the information.
We are currently on 12.1.1, do you we need to apply 12.1.2 patch (7303033), and then apply 12.1.3 patch (9239090) ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Romil
Hi, Romil,
No. As noted in the article above, 12.1.3 is cumulative -- it includes 12.1.2. You can apply 12.1.3 on top of a 12.1.1 environment.

Steven

Hi Steven,
We have been eagerly waiting 12.1.3 for the return of the Staged Dunning functionality. However, I don't seem to be able to find any documentation about how it has been implemented in Advanced Collections. We have a very heaving staged dunning setup at our site and I would like to know how much can be reused as soon as possible.
Many thanks,
Dean
Hi, Dean,
I'm afraid that I don't have much visibility into Advanced Collections functionality. Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to engage one of the functional specialists for that product.

Steven
Hello Steve,
We are currently working on re-implementation from 11i to 12.1.1
However, Client wants to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3.
Just curious to know what are all the things we need to consider or what are all the things that will impact us if we go for 12.1.3?
Note: We are working number of data migrations and customizations currently from 11i to 12.1.1.
Thanks in Advance,
Visu
Hello, Visu,
All upgrade considerations and steps for 12.1.3 are listed in the 12.1.3 documentation. See the Upgrade Guide in the References section above.
Good luck with your upgrade.

Steven
Steve,
Thanks for that.

Hi Steven,
Do you know when the OAF Jdeveloper will be available for 12.1.3? Note 416708.1 shows it as not available as yet.
Ed
Hi, Ed,
That patch is still undergoing testing. Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.
Regards,
Steven
Hi, Ed,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. I needed to confirm that our JDev interop release was coordinated with the documentation updates.
Notes 416708.1 and 787209.1 have both been updated to show that the JDev interop patch 9879989 for 12.1.3 is now available.

Hi Steven
we are currently on 11.5.10.2 and looking for upgrade to 12.1.3 (LATEST RELEASE)
my concern are
- i need to shortest patch for upgrade , minimize the downtime as much as possible
- can we upgrade directly to 12.1.3 without prior 12 releases?
- can we upgrade technically only and keep the functional as in 11i without changes and gradually upgrading module by module?
many thanks for your help and support
regards
Ali
Hi, Ali,
You can upgrade your Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i database to a later version; that will be one less thing to upgrade when upgrading to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.
It is not possible to upgrade on a module-by-module basis. You cannot run parts of your E-Business Suite environment on EBS 11i, and others on EBS 12.
Good luck with your upgrade! Remember that you can always contact your Oracle account manager for a pointer to Oracle Consulting staff who can help you accelerate this upgrade.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steven,
I am looking for 12.1.3 vision instance. If it is coming soon, I will wait for that rather than installing 12.1.1 and doing an upgrade.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Regards,
Selva
Hi, Selva,
Yes, Oracle VM templates for EBS 12.1.3 are coming soon. Stay tuned to this blog for more details shortly.

We are recently upgrading from 11i to 12.1.1, then to 12.1.3.However we have been facing the performance issue i.e. changing responsibility is very very slow and unacceptable by users. Gather schema has been done a few times and init.ora parameter has been changed accordingly(oracle db : 11R1), but it doesn't help. If any idea to improve this issue will be appreciated.SR tar has been logged also. Thank you.
Hello, Sumartono,
I'm sorry to hear that you've encountered an issue with this.
We can provide general conceptual guidance here, but I'm afraid that this blog isn't the best place to get technical support for specific issues like the one that you're working through.
Your best option will be to continue to investigate this via your logged SR.

Any idea when we will have Vision 12.1.3 templates available for download
Hi Murtaza P:
Please check on this blog -- we will announce them here.
Thanks!

Hi Steven,
I posted this question on the General EBS forum on OTN and was directed to your blog - would appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Asmi
****************
My customer recently upgraded their EBS environment from 12.1.2 to 12.1.3.
Is there a place where they can find the specific new flex field configurations/modifications and data structure/data model changes that are applicable to Oracle EBS R12.1.3 (as compared to Oracle EBS R12.1.2?)
I was not able to find this information in the eTRMs, but perhaps I'm not looking in the right place.
Thank you for your help!
Asmi
Hi, Asmi,
I'm afraid you may need to iterate once again; we don't have a lot of flexfield expertise on this particular blog.
It might be more fruitful to seek out flexfield changes between releases for a given product (e.g. Internet Expenses). That might help you narrow your question down to a specific EBS product team, with whom you can follow up directly.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steven,
We have a client seeking to plan for an R12.1.n release next yeat (Oct 2011).
Could you indicate guideline dates for the release of 12.1.4?
Thanks
Harvey
Hi
I got a requirment from the team to have a R12.1.3 Vision Demo instance. To achive that I can go ahead install R12.1.1 and then upgrade to R12.1.3,
By doing so will the demo data required for new functionalities of R12.1.3 will be available?
Will be greatful if I get the response asap, i need to work on it immediately.
Regards,
Hi, Harvey,
At this point, it's somewhat of an open question what the next EBS R12 release will be called. We're working on that release right now.
Oracle's Revenue Recognition rules prohibit us from discussing certification and release dates, but you're welcome to monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates, which I'll post as soon as soon as they're available.

Steven
Hi, Vijay,
I don't have much visibility into Vision Demo data, I'm afraid. I'd assume that this approach would work, but you might wish to to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our Vision specialists engaged.

Hi Steve,
We are currently running Oracle HCM, iProcurement and Financials under E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1. We understand that as a UK Payroll site we need to upgrade with patch 9114911 (R12.HR_PF.B.DELTA.3) to support payroll end of year process and continue operations after 6th April 2011. This in turn means we need to install patch 8919491 (R12.ATG_PF.B.DELTA.3) and patch 9239089 (R12.AD.B.delta.3).
However the question is can we defer installing patches 9147733 (R12.FIN_PF.B.DELTA.3) and 9249354 (R12.PRC_PF.B.DELTA.3) (or should that be patch 9245674 (R12.SCM_PF.B.DELTA.3)?). In other words can we upgrade our HCM implementation and Technology layer to R12.1.3, but leave our Financials and iProcurement implementations on R12.1.1? Or are there dependencies between these different patches?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Sudhir
Sudhir,
In general, our technology stack patches (ATG and AD products) can be upgraded independently of EBS products like Financials and Supply Chain.
It is highly likely that you can break this upgrade into two different patching windows (although I'm not convinced that it will save you any time since you'll end up testing everything twice). I am not familiar with the specific dependencies between the FIN, PRC, and SCM patches that you've listed. For an authoritative reply, I'd recommend logging separate Service Requests against each of the product families to ensure that you can do this upgrade in two stages.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the advice, As suggested rasied TAR.
Please enligthen on the follwoing.
R12.1.3 is cumulative patch consisting of 12.1.2 and as well as all the bug fixes after the 12.1.1 release.
To fix a issue,If we have applied a patch after going live with 12.1.1
two questions
if this patch is included in the 12.1.3, Does it override or the patch will be ignored as it already exists.
If this patch is not included in 12.1.3, does it get undone
Thanks and regards
sudhir
Hi, Sudhir,
If a patch is included in 12.1.3, it won't be overridden. If a patch isn't included in 12.1.3, then it will be overwritten if the file versions and dates and older than the versions included in 12.1.3.
If you have questions about whether specific patches are included in 12.1.3, you can review the product READMEs or log SRs against the individual product teams that own the patches in question.
Good luck with your upgrade.

Steven

We are currently running EBS 12.0.4 and are planning to upgrade to 12.1.3 this summer. I have reviewed the release notes for 12.1 and 12.1.3. Is there any release documentation on the enhancements going from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3 that I can share with the business to help prepare and plan for the upgrade to 12.1.3? Are my users going to see much change with this upgrade?
Thank you.
Hi, Karen,
>Are my users going to see much change with this upgrade?
I think the answer depends on which EBS products you've implemented, but generally speaking, the change between 12.0 and 12.1 is evolutionary and incremental rather than radical. You can find links to the 12.1.3 Release Content Document (which is cumulative) in the Note linked above.
Good luck with your upgrade.
Regards,
Steven
Steven,
I've heard 12.1.3 referred to as a stabilization release on a number of occasions. Can you tell me if this is the case and provide a little more clarity on what a stabilization release is?
Thanks,
Paul
Paul,
We don't use the term "stabilization release," since it implies prior releases are unstable. EBS releases fall into two categories: Rapid Install releases, and Release Update Packs.
EBS 12.1.1 was a Rapid Install release. In other words, you could start with a server + O/S, run the EBS 12.1.1 Rapid Install, and end up with a functioning EBS instance.
EBS 12.1.2 and 12.1.3 are Release Update Packs. Release Update Packs combine error corrections, statutory/regulatory updates, and functionality enhancements into a consolidated, suite-wide patch set. Both 12.1.2 and 12.1.3 can only be installed on top of an existing EBS 12.1 environment.
If you're running either EBS 12.1.1 or 12.1.2, we strongly recommend that you apply 12.1.3, to get the benefit of the updates in that latest release.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steven,
Please advise where can I find the documentation for R12.1.3.
Also, is there any chart / document available that provides list of enhancements from R12 to R12.1.3 across the modules.
Thanks,
Khader Mohiuddin
Khader,
Please see the article above for links to both the 12.1.3 documentation as well as the Release Content Document. The latter describes all enhancements between 12.0 and 12.1.3.

Hi,
We are running on HCM 12.0.3 and planning to upgrade to latest R12 version but found there are 2 core release available
i.e.: 12.0.x and 12.1.x while 12.0.9 just release
what will be Oracle's roadmap for those ?
and where can i found the different between the latest 12.0 and 12.1 versions ?
Thanks,
Gary
Hi, Gary,
The article above has a link to the "12.1.3 Release Content Document." That lists all of the new features introduced in the various 12.1 updates.
I would strongly recommend going to 12.1.3 rather than applying any 12.0 Release Update Packs at this point.
Regards,
Steven
Dear Steven,
Please provide that new feature we can have in 12.1.3 with respective to 12.1.1 release.
Please clear why should we prefer 12.1.3 except the bug fixed in this release.
Koushikinath Misra
Hello Koushikinath,
If you're looking for a specific bug to be backported to 12.1.1, I'd recommend logging a Service Request against the relevant product.
Regards,
Steven
Dear Steven,
Actually my requirement was to confirm my client what they can get extra benifit from EBS 12.1.3 with respect to 12.1.1 they have in terms of security, features ,functionality.
So please help me in getting these information.
Regards,
Koushikinath Misra
Hello, Koushkinath,
See the Release Content Document listed above for a detailed listing of all new features released in 12.1.3. We strongly recommend applying 12.1.3 for all EBS 12 customers.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steven,
I understand 12.1.3 patches (9329089 and 9239090) are not yet certified against AIX 6.1 (this has been informed to us on SR# 3-4919548141).
Would you have information as to when is this certification expected ? This information should allow us to plan for upgrade to 12.1.3 (our platform being AIX 6.1).
Thanks.
Regards,
Rakesh Tripathi
Hello Rakesh -
When you view the patches, you should pick the 'IBM AIX on Power Systems (64-bit)' which covers all certified AIX versions (5.3, 6.1, 7.1).
The fact that the patch name includes '5L' is becuase of how these are built on AIX 5L machines but are automatically certified on later versions of the OS such as AIX 6. We don't produce separate releases nor patches generally for later OS versions on a platform, unless it specifically says so in the patch and/or associated documentation.
I will add language to the AIX Installation and Upgrade Note (761569.1) stating this as well to avoid confusion.
thanks,
John
John,
Thanks for the update.
It was owing to the confusion that I raised an SR (3-4919548141) to validate whether the patches are certified on AIX 6.1 or otherwise - and we've been informed by the Support Analyst that they're not certified. Had I not posted my query here alongside the SR, this would've resulted in me believing that the patches are not certified. Thanks for your response.
Regards,
Rakesh
Hi,
We are currently upgrading to R12.1.3 but at the moment we are struggling to find a consolidated list of post R12.1.3 patches that we should apply before starting some rigorous testing phases.
Is there a single Metalink document/note that details the "possible" patches/packs that we may need to apply to our environment before we release it to test?
The reason I ask is that in the past when testers have found a "problem" we research on Metalink and sometimes it's a known problem and there is a patch for it - sometimes we can't find anything on Metalink and raise an SR and they then come back and tell us to apply a patch etc.
We wanted to break this cycle and only release it once it was patched as far as possible.
Any help much appreciated.
Regards,
Bren
Bren,
Thanks for the inquiry. There is a feature found on My Oracle Support (MOS) that allows you to generate a list of recommended patches for your environment.
First, login to MOS. Then, click on the "Patches & Updates" tab. Once on the this tab, in the left corner is an area called "Patching Quick Links". NOTE: You may need to expand this area. Here you will find a link to "Recommended R12 Patches". Once you click this link, the resulting page displays the recommended patches. You can also refine the results on this page.
What's great about this feature is that it dynamically queries the information stored about patches to pull the latest set of recommened patches.
Good luck with your upgrade.

Hi Steven,
Would like to know when would R12.1.4 be made GA?
Thanks!
AK
Hi, AK,
We don't presently have any plans for producing an EBS 12.1.4 Release Update Pack. We're hard at work on EBS 12.2 right now. See:
Webcast Reminder: Sysadmin-Oriented Preview of EBS 12.2 on Oct 27

Steve,
we are currently on ebs 12.0.4 and db 10.2.0.2.0
can you provide me the exact info for upgrading to 12.1.3 and the corresponding db upgrade.
The links above is for 11i to 12.1.3... I'm not able to see any upgrade guide for 12.0.4 to 12.1.1 or 12.1.3.
You help is highly appreciated.
Sury
Hi, Sury,
The 12.1.3 Release Update Pack can be used to upgrade from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3. You can review the README above for those details.
The database is upgraded separately. To upgrade from 10gR2 to 11.2.0.3, see this article:
11gR2 11.2.0.3 Database Certified with E-Business Suite (Oracle E-Business Suite Technology)
http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/11gr2_11_2_0_3
Good luck with your upgrades.

Hi Steve,
I have upgraded to R12 (12.1.3) on a single node with database 10g. Now the Management wants to move to RAC on sun solaris.
Should we first upgrade the database to 11g and to which release or can move as it is?
Regards
Guest,
You raise an interesting question regarding your upgrade path. You can move the database to RAC on Solaris now. Migrating to the new platform and RAC prior to the database upgrade will provide performance benefits by allowing you to use the new hardware when performing the database upgrade.
It is not clear from your post if the upgrade to R12.1.3 was performed in production or test only. If test only, you should also consider the database platform migration prior to the R12.1.3 upgrade. Again, this will allow you to utilize the new hardware resources to perform the R12.1.3 upgrade.
The latest certfified version of the databse for R12.1.3 is 11.2.0.3. This should be your target database version.
Thanks for your inquiry and good luck!

Dear Steve,
We are currently on EBS 12.1.1 with 10.2.0.3 database. We are looking at upgrade to 12.1.3. I got to understand from the comments on this page that we need to upgrade our database to 10.2.0.5 or 11.2.0.3 What is the best way to upgrade to 11.2.0.3? We are considering upgrading to 10.2.0.5 first, then applying the patch 9239090 for 12.1.3 upgrade and then upgrading the db again to 11.2.0.3 Is this a good approach? We are looking at this option just to avoid the interoperability patches for 11i db on 12.1.1
Greatly appreciate your feedback.
Regards
Dear Guest,
I'm glad to hear that you're planning your upgrade to 12.1.3. Your best bet would be to upgrade your database to 11.2.0.3 first, and then do the 11i to 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 upgrade.
For more details, see:
Best Practices for Combining EBS Upgrades with Platform Migrations https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entr /oracle_e_business_suite_upgrades

HI Steve,
In your previous poste you said "Oracle VM templates for EBS 12.1.3 are coming soon", do you have a date for these? We recently upgrated the vision instance to 12.1.3 and we are getting errors on standard forms with no note on metalink regarding this issue? Amy suggestions?
Hi, Guest,
Sorry for the delay in responding to this. I've just published this article today with pointers to the latest EBS 12.1.3 VM templates:
Oracle VM Templates Available for E-Business Suite 12.1.3
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/oracle_vm_templates_available_for
I'm sorry to hear about your issues with Forms. If that's still an issue, feel free to send me your Service Request number.

Hi Steven,
We are currently on R12 version 12.0.6, Database 10.2.0.2 on IBM AIX 62 bit server.
For an SR raised for an issue related to appraisal, i got a feedback from MOS that our system didnt meet the baseline requirements. They also advised me to do an upgrade.
So i would like to know how this can be proceeded further.
For example,
- What R12 version i have to upgrade before moving on to 12.1.3 or can i directly go to 12.1.3?
- How to find the reports and forms version used currently?
- Where to find the documents related to the upgradation from R12.0.6 to R12.1.3
- What are the effects would be on my current system like Customizations done, Alerts created, existing Application setups?
I am sure that you've answered most of your queries in your earlier posts but still i would like to get it confirmed once again.
Your advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam
Hi Steven,
Our requirement is to set up oracle Product Hub 12.1.3 . So we had installed EBS R12.1.1 using rapid wiz. The R12.1.3 update pack is a set of patches which can be downloaded from above. My doubts are
1) what is the right path to set up Oracle Product Hub for Communications, Release 12.1.3. Please note we are currently on EBS R12.1.1 set up.
2) The R12.1.3 patch mentioned above, does it contain the Product Hub 12.1.3 patch as well ? Because on edelivery I find only Oracle Product Hub for Communications, Release 12.1.1 is available for download.
Your inputs will be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ananth
Hi, Sam,
1. You can upgrade from 12.1.1 directly to 12.1.3.
2. Forms 10.1.2.3 is the latest Forms version certified with EBS 12.
3. This is documented in the 12.1.3 Upgrade Guide.
4. They will be preserved.
Regards,
Steven
Hi, Ananth,
I'm afraid that I don't have any Product Hub expertise.
Your best bet would be to log a formal Service Request via My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink) to get one of our Product Hub specialists engaged.

Steven
Hi,
In OEBS 11i I had the data model in a PDF format for the different modules. This was a useful tool to use in communication and workshoping during projects.
Can someone help me in getting the datamodel for R12?
Regards
Arne Aas
Hi, Arne,
One possibility is here:
http://etrm.oracle.com
You might need to log a Service Request to get a pointer to a PDF version of the data model.

Steven
Hi everyone. I have a client that currently runs Oracle EBS 12.0.6. If we start an upgrade early next year, what version would we move to? Is there another major version coming anytime soon? And would you consider this a Major upgrade in either/or technology/functionality, or is it a minor upgrade? Any opinions are welcome. Thanks.
Hi, Guest,
You should plan on upgrading to EBS 12.1.3.
We are working on the next release right now: EBS 12.2. If EBS 12.2 is released at a time that's suitable for you to incorporate that your upgrade project, all business analysis performed for EBS 12.1.3 will also apply, transparently, to the later upgrade to EBS 12.2.
Regards,
Steven
Hi Steven. Thanks for the feedback. In your opinion, is an upgrade from 12.0.6 to 12.1.3 a major upgrade in functionality? We have a number of modules that we never implemented. And we have a number of customizations and personalizations that would need to be evaluated. I am just trying to get a sense as to whether or not this will be a "quick and easy" upgrade, or a more complex one. Thanks again.
Hi, Guest,
From the perspective of applying a patch to your EBS 12 environment, 12.1.3 is straightforward. There are no configuration changes required for your technology stack.
I'm not a functional specialist, so it's difficult for me to make any authoritative statements about EBS product functionality. My impression is that there were no major functional changes introduced between 12.0.6 and 12.1.3, but you should validate that by reviewing the Release Content Document for the products that you're using.

Hi ,
We are in Process of doing Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
From your blog we have got all information with respect to patch and various task to perform.
We have some issues on Post Upgrade Task. What are the stepups on the application we need to perfom with respect to various application like Financials, Procurement and Inventory and during what stages.
How is localization handled and during what stage we need to address localiztion (Not the Addon Localization).
I would appreciate your reply.
Thanks.
Hi, Guest,
This is a technology stack-focussed blog, and your question is about functional implementation steps. I'm afraid that we don't have much expertise in those areas.
I'd recommend reviewing the official product implementation documentation (e.g. for Financials) for more details. If you have additional questions, you might wish to raise them in the Oracle Support community forums for those products, or log official Service Requests with Oracle Support.
Best of luck with your upgrade.

Steven
Hi Steven
We are working on a French 12.1.3 implementation. Does it make sense to Implement in English and apply FRENCH NLS patches or Implement in Native french language itself. Please suggest
Regards
Ramanathan
Hi, Ramanathan,
Very good question!
This depends on your language scope plans. For example, are you going to run in both English and French allowing users to pick their preferred language, or you'll be allowing users to run in French only. If the former, it makes more sense to implement in English and then apply French NLS patches and then do the same personalization/customization you did for English. If the latter, it makes more sense to implement in French. In that case, you might also want to make French the base language so that E-Business Suite will default to French.
Good luck with your implementation.
Hi Steven,
I've just gone to download the 12.1.3 patch but it has a Classification of Superseded. Is this a mistake or has it actually been superseded? I have logged an SR (3-7298863521) but it was difficult to work out what product to raise it against (did it against application install eventually as every other option seemed to point me towards community support).
Regards,
Ian
Hi Ian,
12.1.3 has not been superseded, and the incorrect classification will be corrected shortly.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Robert.
Please let me know whether 12.1.3 Rapid install will be available instead of performing the upgrade from 12.1.3.
Thanks,
Harish
Harish,
No, there are no plans to produce a 12.1.3 Rapid Install. You must start with 12.1.1 and apply the 12.1.3 Release Update Pack.
Another approach for getting a 12.1.3 environment quickly is to use our Oracle VM templates -- these are based on 12.1.3. See this externally-published article:
Oracle VM Templates Available for E-Business Suite 12.1.3 (Oracle E-Business Suite Technology)
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/oracle_vm_templates_available_for

Hi Ian,
The erroneous classification of 12.1.3 as Superseded has now been corrected.
Robert.
Hi Steve,
We have applied prereqs for R12.1.3 (we are on R12.1.1 linux Database 11.2.0.3). The patch 9239090 runs for about 2 hours successfully, but then disconnects for no apparent reason. No errors in worker files, patch log files, db alert log files and syslog files, it just stops, doesnt update ad_bugs or have any of the messages indicating it has completed. It always seems to bomb at the same point, here are the last few lines of the logfile:
STOP_TASK: [Compile invalid objects in DB] [] [Wed Jul 10 2013 15:26:28]
STRT_TASK: [Get final list of invalid objects in DB] [] [Wed Jul 10 2013 15:26:28]
Number of invalid objects: 107
Getting list of invalid objects in APPS schema.
Has anyone seen this before? We have a SR open, but they havent been much help so far. We have run utlrp mutliple times the invalids stay the same.
Thanks
Hi, Oli,
I'm sorry that you're encountering issues with this.
What's your SR number? Feel free to email it to me directly.

Hi Steven
Planning an upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 EBS.
Our 12.1.1 is relatively stable over the past 3 years after many-many patching for issues.
Would like to know whether there exists a 'compendium' of known application issues that warrant patching post appliying 9239090 (upgrade RUP) so that fire-fighting can be avoided?
Thanks
Sundar
Hi, Sundar,
Good timing for your question. I've just posted this article:

Hi Steven,
We have recently upgraded from 11i to 12.1.3
I am a developer and I have been told that the Developer suite 10.1.2.0.2
is the correct version for R12. Is that correct?
Secondly our machines are to be upgraded to Win7-64bit.
Is this the recommended set-up or would you recommend something else?
Thanks,
Stephen
Hi, Stephen,
This is actually my *THIRD* attempt to answer this; my apologies for the shifting sands. It's taken an unusual amount of effort to get to the bottom of this, and I've asked my team to update our documentation to make this easier to answer in the future.
You can find the Oracle E-Business Suite Developer's Guide for 12.1 here:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e12897/toc.htm
That guide notes that the latest certified Forms Builder release is 10.1.2.2.
Since the publication of that documentation, we have certified EBS 12.1 with Forms 10.1.2.3. See:
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/latest_forms_and_reports_10g
The Forms release on the server must match the Forms release on the developer's PC. Therefore, you should ensure that you have Forms Builder 10.1.2.3 on your developer's PC, too.
Forms Builder only runs on WinXP. You should either keep a legacy
WinXP instance around for maintenance, or alternately, run the tool in Windows XP Mode on Win7.
By the way, you might find the 12.1 Documentation Library useful:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/index.htm

Steven
Hi Steven,
This blog is very good to find information. I have one query. As you have mentioned, Relaese 12.1.3 is using Forms and Reports 10g only.
Is this the same for Release 12.2 or should we upgarde to Forms and Reports 11g.
We are upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to R12.2. Can this be done directly now as R12.2 is officially announced. Or stil we need to upgrade to 12.1.3 and then to 12.2
Regards,
Ranjith
Ranjith,
EBS 12.1 and 12.2 are certified only with Forms & Reports 10g. You cannot upgrade them to 11g.
There is a direct upgrade path from EBS 11.5.10.2 to 12.2. You can refer to the EBS 12.2 Upgrade Guide for more details:

Hello there,
We are planning to migrate from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3. Would anyone share the feedback from testing this upgrade? How much testing was done (full regression at system and UAT levels or a subset) and what was the error rate? We don't want to over-egg the testing but would like to understand the possible risks to the Business.
Many Thanks,
Arina
Hi Steven,
Does Release 12.1.3 allows you to go self service Hr in mobile?
Hi, Mani,
It depends on your definition of "mobile."
We've certified iPads running Safari with EBS 12.1.3. See:
Apple iPads Certified with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/safari_apple_ipads_certified_with
Regards,
Steven
HI Steven,
Thanks for your response. What i meant mobile means enable sales rep to login thru their ipad's to update their hr contact info or other details using employee self service in r12.1.3
thanks and best regards
Mani
Hi Steven:
What is the latest database version supported by Ebusiness 12.1.3? We are planning for a database upgrade before going to 12.2. Can you please put the link to the certification matrix here too?
Thank you.
Jessica
Hi, Jessica,
The latest database certified with EBS 12.1.3 is Database 12.1.0.1.
You can click on the "Quarterly Recommendations" link in the right-hand sidebar menu to see our latest advice for upgrading to the latest certifications.
Alternately, you can click on the "Certifications" link in that menu to get a one-page summary of all certifications.

Steven
Hi,
We are Planning to upgrade from R12.1.2 to R12.1.3 .
Docs : Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme (Doc ID 1080973.1).
Questiones :
1. Will it impact Customized the Oracle Seeded Workflow, form personalization,Interfaces etc ..
2. Any note which shows the features between R12.1.2 VS r12.1.3.
Hi, Guest,
1. This update is unlikely to affect Oracle-delivered content or your personalizations. As with all updates, you should test against your customizations.
2. See the Release Content Document listed in the article above.

Steven
I saw there is a approval from the German tax authority for the vision 12.0.6. Auditor for this vision PWC. Audit report was singed at 17.08.2009.
Is there a new auditing or a current approval from the German tax authority. Because the old one is nearly 10 years old.
Thanks for support in advance
Stephan
I'm afraid that we don't have any visibility into German tax authority approvals from PWC. I'd recommend following up with PWC directly on this.
Regards,
Steven
Thank you.
Yes, you can refer to the EBS Release Content Document (RCD) to learn about new features in a release - not just for HR, but all products.
The latest EBS Release is 12.2.8. Here is a link to the announcement which includes a link to the RCD:
