Applications Technology Integration

We are pleased to announce the availability of the latest Oracle E-Business Suite startCD, 12.2.0.49. As the fundamental installation medium for EBS, the startCD is what you begin with when installing or upgrading to Release 12.2.

This latest version includes many important fixes, which are described in the readme of the startCD patch (listed below). The new startCD is highly recommended for all customers who will use Rapid Install to perform an installation or upgrade to Release 12.2:

    Hi,

It seems that in StartCD 12.2.0.49 it is no longer possible to add a Secondary applications node during rapidwiz.

"Add Server" button has disappeared from "Node Information" screen. Could someone please clarify on what was the purpose of removing it? Was there any bug or issue associated? I have reviewed Readme of the latest StartCD but couldn't find any information there.

    Thanks,

    Regards,

    Andrejs Karpovs.

    Hi Andrejs,

The reason for the changed behaviour can be found in My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1644660.1, "Oracle E-Business Suite Applications DBA and Technology Stack Release Notes for R12.AD.C.Delta.5 and R12.TXK.C.Delta.5":

    ---

    5.1 Rapid Install Known Issues

In startCD 12.2.0.49, multinode install or upgrade is not supported. Instead of creating additional application tier nodes using Rapid Install, you must create a single application tier node, then clone it after you have applied the latest AD and TXK rollup patches following completion of Rapid Install's actions. This avoids needing to apply the patches to multiple nodes, saving time and effort and reducing the risk of error. Refer as applicable to My Oracle Support Knowledge Documents 1383621.1, Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Rapid Clone; 1375769.1, Sharing The Application Tier File System in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2; and 1375670.1, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 Configuration in a DMZ.

There is further discussion of the subject in the latest version (Part No. E22950-18) of "Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install". This book is available in the Oracle E-Business Suite Documentation Web Library:

    Hi,

We are trying to upgrade our 11i to 12.2.0 using the StartCD 12.2.0.49.

    Our current 11i configuration is

    Server A - IBM AIX - Database & Batch Processing(Concurrent managers) node

Server B - RHEL Linux - All the Web services(APache,Forms,DIsco etc)

We want to have the same configuration after we upgrade to 12.2.0.

Here, the question is which one needs to be Promary Apps node?

Also, the installer is not giving the option to add another node.

If I choose Server B as Primary node, then, I cannot clone this to Server A as these two servers are differnt OS platforms.

How do I solve this situation?

The installer guide is not much helpful on this.

Are there any suggested documents on this?

I suppose that there could be many 11i customers with the configuration what we have and may want to retain the same after upgragin to R12.2.0.

    Thank you for any help

    Sai

    Hello, Sai,

I'd like to help you with your questions, but blog comments isn't the best way to do that.

Can you log a Service Request? Feel free to send me the SR number if it gets stuck in the pipeline for some reason.

    Regards,

We are planning to upgrade from 12.1.2 to 12.2.4.

Database is on a 2 node rac.

Do we have to run rapidwiz twice (once per each node). This part is not documented in the documents I found so far.

I understand that you can only define one app tier during rapidwiz config process and you have to later clone or add another node (But this is not a great feature if you are already using shared appl top. For customers who are not on shared appl top, this can save them time by patching the single node that is configured and cloning this node to add additional nodes. But for customers who are on shared appl_top this seems to add more time as you have to configure the second node or third node after the initial install.

    Hi Steven,

I looked at the oracle document for the oracle mulit node installation.

they are using the single user(oracle in db tier and app tier) for the ebs 12.2.4 installation.

what is the preferred way for the singlr user(oracle) or multi user(oracle in db tier:applmgr in app tier) to install the oracle ebs 12.2 multi-node installation?

    Thanks

    John

    Hello Steven,

we are facing issues during our upgrade from 12.1.2 to 12.2.4. We have solaris node (hosting database and concurrent managers) and one linux node ( hosing web/form services). As per latest start CD we cannot perform multinode install. My question is :

How can we upgrade in a cross platform architecture? If we install R12.2.0 on solaris node then won't be able to clone linux since cross platform cloning is not supported. We have raise an SR#3-11680733521 with oracle but haven't got any satisfactory answer. Can you please have a look?

    Thanks,

    Mayank
