We have been fine-tuning the administration tools for E-Business Suite 12.2 via a series of regular updates to the Applications DBA (AD) and EBS Technology Stack (TXK) components:
We have now made available an eighth set of critical updates to AD and TXK. If you are on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, we strongly recommend that you apply both of these two newly-released patch collections at your earliest convenience:
They can be downloaded from My Oracle Support, as shown by this example for AD:
Refer to the following My Oracle Support knowledge document for full installation instructions and associated tasks:
These updates provide the latest codelevels for AD-TXK. A codelevel is a collection of patches that implements and provides fixes for a set of features associated with a point release of an EBS product. Codelevels are cumulative, with each subsequent one including the features and fixes in each of its predecessors. There are several important reasons you should adopt this latest AD-TXK codelevel:

Hi Elke,
Regarding the new feature,
* New ADOP Apply failure validations added to the ADOP phases: Prepare, FS_CLONE, Cleanup and Finalize.
Does that mean, "adop -validate" can now be run for any/all of the adop phases(prepare, cutover, cleanup, finalize and fs_clone)?
Thanks,
Susmit
Hi Susmit,
The feature mentioned by your comment is used to detect failures in prior ADOP Apply phase executions. If failures are detected, the ADOP phases: Prepare, FS_CLONE, Cleanup and Finalize will highlight the failure and terminate gracefully. This is mostly an internal fix that will be invoked automatically by the fore-mentioned phases.
"adop -validate" can be executed at any point of the patching cycle. It will identify if the patching cycle is open or not. If the patching cycle is open, it will execute validations applicable to the cutover phase. If it is not open, it will execute validations applicable to the prepare phase.
For more information related to adop -validate, review the Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2 Maintenance Guide.

Santiago
Hi Steven,
What are your thoughts about upgrading to 12.2.5 as part of the AD/TXK7 patch. Are there any significant improvements in security within 12.2.5 versus 12.2.3? Advantages? Disadvantages?
Hi, Sheilah,
There may be some back-end fixes or updates that have secondary security-related implications. That said, your primary focus for security updates should be the quarterly Critical Patch Updates (CPU). As of today, the January 2016 CPU is available, and we strongly recommend that you apply that at your earliest convenience.
As you can see from the Note linked in the article above, there is a significant list of enhancements and fixes included in this AD/TXK update. We strongly recommend that you apply this, too, as well as the January CPU.
Regards,
Steven
