We are pleased to announce  immediate availability of the latest update to the EBS Cloud Admin Tool for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Classic. This menu-driven tool is used to create, manage and configure Oracle E-Business Suite on Compute Classic and related database services.

The base release of the EBS Cloud Admin Tool, Version 1.7.1, is delivered as part of the virtual machine you create using the EBS Provisioning Tools Image available from the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. Updates to the tool are delivered as patches, which increment the codelevel - in this case, to Version 1.7.3, which provides a number of important additional features customers have asked for.

See below for how to get the tool, and an in-depth look at what's new.

Obtaining the EBS Cloud Admin Tool

Instructions for installing the tool and upgrading it to the latest codelevel are included in the Oracle by Example tutorial Deploying the EBS Cloud Admin Tool to Oracle Cloud.

New in This Release

The new features offered by this version can be divided into the following three categories.

1. Additional Cloning, Backup & Refresh Capabilities

Version 1.7.3 includes the following new cloning, backup and refresh capabilities for existing environments that were created using the EBS Cloud Admin Tool via either new provisioning or lift and shift:

  • Clone an environment using the Oracle Storage Cloud Service (OSCS)
  • Create a backup on OSCS
  • Refresh an environment from an OSCS backup

Note: The above capabilities are available for environments where the application tier and database tier reside in Compute Classic.

2. Expanded Database Cloud Service Options

Previous versions of the EBS Cloud Admin Tool supported the Database Cloud Service Enterprise Edition High Performance and Extreme Performance packages for some operations. Version 1.7.3 extends this support to include the Enterprise Edition - General Purpose package.

3. Optional Post-Provisioning Tasks

When provisioning a new environment, you can now perform key post-provisioning tasks such as:

  • Install additional RPMs, such as those required by third-party applications
  • License Oracle E-Business Suite products
  • Convert Oracle Forms to Socket Mode
  • Change Oracle E-Business Suite passwords for:
    • Applications accounts
    • System accounts
    • Oracle WebLogic Server Admin account
