Oracle E-Business Suite Automation for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Now Available

Santiago Bastidas
Product Management Director

We are very excited to announce the availability of the EBS on Oracle Cloud automation tools for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (formerly known as Bare Metal Cloud Services). These new tools extend the capabilities previously provided for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Classic.

This first release of tools for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure delivers automation for:

  • Provisioning of EBS demo environments
  • Lift and shift of EBS environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides an extensive set of capabilities, from private clone network definitions to several compute and database services, which constitute a perfect platform for running Oracle E-Business Suite workloads. EBS automation leverages the flexibility to define your network to fulfill your most demanding requirements in terms of network security, resource isolation, and access control.

In the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure world, you start by creating a compartment that helps you group your cloud resources. After that, you define your network.

The EBS automation leverages the network you defined ahead of time and deploys the resources accordingly. To provision EBS environments, you have to prepare your compartment by configuring your network with a certain minimum number of subnets.

The following Oracle by Example (OBE) Tutorials are part of this release and can be found on Oracle Applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Learning Library

this is great! However does the DB have to be a baremetal or Exadata System? Can we use VM shapes on OCI instead?

Still this utility has restriction of selecting target server, installation path on target server and port number as per wish.

The ability to provision the database tier onto a Compute VM is on our roadmap.

Many of these nice-to-have features are either on our roadmap or are under consideration. We welcome enhancement requests (to be logged via MOS) with an explanation of why certain features are important for your business. We weigh all the different requests coming in and prioritize.
