News, tips and technical guidance to help you run Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud.

Is Oracle E-Business Suite Certified on Amazon AWS EC2?

Steven Chan
Senior Director

No. We have not tested any Oracle E-Business Suite releases with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2).

Are there any plans to certify this combination?

No, Oracle has no plans to certify AWS or EC2 with any Oracle E-Business Suite releases.

Support implications for running EBS on AWS/EC2

Oracle will provide E-Business Suite patches for issues that can be reproduced on certified operating systems, Oracle Cloud, or Oracle VM.

We would advise customers to contact Amazon Support for any issues that can only be reproduced on AWS or EC2.

What combinations are certified with Oracle EBS?

Oracle E-Business Suite is certified with Oracle CloudOracle VM, and many operating systems. EBS is not certified with third-party virtualization solutions. See:

    Hi Steven,

    1. Is EBS certified on MS Azure? If yes is options such as HA,RAC, Data Guard supported?

    2. Is there any docker images available for EBS? or is it supported if customer tries to create an EBS docker image of their own? Is there any reference or documentation on this?

    Hello, Susmit,

    1. See this article:

    http://blogs.oracle.com/ebsandoraclecloud/is-oracle-e-business-suite-certified-on-microsoft-azure

    2. No, we don't have any Docker images. We don't publish any guidance on Docker+EBS. We're assessing customer demand for this configuration right now (there has not been much interest to date).

Can you elaborate on why you'd like to use Docker?

    Steven,

We were just thinking, if we had docker images and can create our own images for EBS it will be really easy to migrate them across on premise and cloud (this is for test, dev environments only).
We can create our env, push our customization, create docker image, upload in registry and then use this images to recreate our environment in OPC, BMC may be.

Just a thought. Need your suggestion.

    Thanks,
    Susmit

    Bsingh-
I'm not 100 percent clear what you're asking, but note that EBS is supported on Linux x86-64 and on SPARC in the Oracle Cloud. Please see "Getting Started with Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud" (Doc ID 2066260.1) for more information.

No, as the cloud hardware is Intel and AMD. From:

    https://cloud.oracle.com/compute/faq#general

See the entry: Operating System (OS) Images

These are the available "little-endian" operating systems in OCI.
