Cross platform migration to Oracle Cloud is now certified for Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.2 (12.2.3 or higher) and 12.1 (12.1.3) with Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1.0). The documented process combines both an application tier platform migration from on-premises to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Compute VM and database tier migration to OCI running a multi-tenant database. The database migration process uses Transportable Tablespaces (TTS) with the full transportable export/import option in 12cR1 to speed up the migration.
This process will be needed for migrating E-Business Suite environments across platforms, i.e. migrating to Oracle Cloud running Linux x86-64 from an on-premises platform of a different endian format.
The endianness of platforms can be checked by querying the view V$TRANSPORTABLE_PLATFORM using SQL*Plus (connected as sysdba):
SQL> select platform_name, endian_format from v$transportable_platform;
This certification requires that the source database be 11gR2 (220.127.116.11) or 12cR1 (18.104.22.168) and the target database be 12cR1 (22.214.171.124). The source database must be a non-container database (non-CDB) while the target imported database will be stored as a single pluggable database (PDB) inside a container database (CDB). The application tier EBS version will remain the same on the target as that of the source.
A number of patches required for this migration are now available on My Oracle Support. See the references below for details.
Note that the Cross Platform Incremental Backup feature of Transportable Tablespaces is not yet certified for EBS cross platform migration to Oracle Cloud - this will be announced when it is available.
