In this article, we tell you about some terms used in the new and improved EBS on Oracle Cloud automation that was introduced in early March. These terms are used throughout our Oracle by Example tutorials, and will be employed going forward throughout all our communications, including future blog articles and training material.
In this "Part I of II", we define some of the key tools and constructs used in the automation, including:
EBS Cloud Admin Tool - This tool comprises a set of menu-driven Oracle Cloud automation
utilities that are used to create, manage and configure Oracle
E-Business Suite environments on Oracle Cloud. The tool is delivered as part of the virtual machine created from the EBS Provisioning Tools Image in the Oracle Cloud Marketplace.
EBS Cloud Backup Utility - This utility is used to back up an Oracle E-Business Suite cloud environment to a designated storage area, which can be either Oracle Compute Cloud Service account storage or the Oracle Storage Cloud Service. The resulting backup serves as the source for the EBS Cloud Admin Tool to create a clone (target) EBS environment on Oracle Cloud. In other words, the EBS Cloud Backup Utility is used in conjunction with the EBS Cloud Admin Tool to clone environments from on-premises to Oracle Cloud.
EBS Cloud Public Container - A cloud storage location that holds the files used by the EBS Cloud Admin Tool to provision either a Vision (demo) install or fresh install Oracle E-Business Suite environment.
