Critical Update ( For EBS Cloud Manager 20.2.1

Terri Noyes
Product Management Director

We recently published an article announcing the release of Oracle E-Business Suite Cloud Manager 20.2.1.

If you are an existing Oracle E-Business Cloud Manager user, and have upgraded your Cloud Manager to Release 20.2.1 using the self-update tool (selfUpdate.pl), it is now essential to run selfUpdate.pl again to upgrade to Release, which includes a critical fix for all Cloud Manager 20.2.1 customers.

Thanks for your understanding, and happy holidays!

The market place has the 20.2.1 version. Do you plan to upgrade it?

Using the EBS Cloud Manager available in the market place, I get this error:

    oci_load_balancer.instance-cloud-manager-prov-vm-lbaas: Creating...

Error: Service error:InvalidParameter. shapeDetails cannot be null when shape is flexible. http status code: 400. Opc request id: d90385c9cfd25ad88352657e5ed0c4af/ED7B53EB04BD570C091AD3BA7C4341D9/A219CEB35B74E887537E466AFD4A2823

    Hello Terri,

I installed the latest version of EBS Cloud Manager. There is two bugs. First, the configure.pl scripts can't create the flexible load balancer. Second, it can only detect a installed load balancer if it is contained in the same compartement of the ebs cloud manager.
Soo, this is a problem when we put the load balancer in a network related compartment.

    Hello Daniel-

The primary issue could be that you are attempting to use a flexible load balancer shape. I will review the documentation to see if changes are warranted.

If you still encounter issues, please open a Service Request.

Per your second question, we do plan to refresh the Cloud Manager image in the Marketplace in step with our next minor release ( While I cannot provide an ETA, that is coming soon.

In the meantime, self-update will get you there.

    Hi Terri,

Yes, I am also facing the same issue, configure.pl scripts can't create the flexible load balancer. There is no other option to select different shape, as it displays only one option to select from the list which is "flexible" shape. Pls help.

Configure.pl does not yet support the flexible load balancer shape. The team is, however, aware of this request/requirement. Hopefully you have other options available to you. You are also welcome to log a service request to convey this requirement directly, and provide more details on your use case.

Be careful if you have already patched your compute instance with the latest advisories from Oracle (yum update). The ./selfUpdate fails because the JRE installed is newer than the one the update is trying to install.

    Installing JRE
    package jre1.8-1.8.0_221-fcs.x86_64 is not installed
    Installing or Upgrading /u01/install/APPS/updates/EBSCloudAdminTools_v20.
    Preparing... ########################################
package jre1.8-1.8.0_281-fcs.x86_64 (which is newer than jre1.8-1.8.0_221-fcs.x86_64) is already installed
    ERROR: RPM install failed.

    run selfUpdate
    pause at entering the password
comment out the line in /u01/install/APPS/updates/EBSCloudAdminTools_v20. that updates the JRE
    continue by entering the password
