A Needle In A Haystack? Not So Fast My Friend!

We commiserate – “I know I found a MOS document in a previous search, why can’t I find it now?” “I can’t be the first person with this search criteria, why isn’t my search returning helpful results?” “I forgot what the acronym APC stands for – how can I be sure I’m getting relevant results for my problem  in APC?” Well, the Inventory Blog Team is right there with you. Searching in My Oracle Support (MOS) can seem like a challenge. But we also know that understanding how to search can be the difference between a quick answer, solution, or...the opposite if you don't know how to search. Lets shed some light.

Every member of Oracle Support that contributes to the knowledge base works hard to provide accurate concise information that can be found quickly and efficiently. HCM: Three New Troubleshooting Assistants for HCM...and One Gets a New Look

You may be familiar with the term "Search Helper".  A Search Helper for iRecruitment was introduced last year as an easy and fast method to finding a relevant, complete solution to common issues encountered by our customers.  Search Helpers exist for many products across the E-Business Suite.

Search Helpers have been re-tooled to provide an improved customer experience within My Oracle Support.  Part of that re-tooling includes reformatting and renaming the Search Helpers to one or more Assistants that more clearly define the intent or purpose of the guided resolution.  Whether you are using the Assistant within My Oracle Support to resolve an issue through Search/Browse or as part of SR creation, you will notice a different look to the Assistants, but the same information as was previously available via the Search Helpers will be provided via the Assistants.

Here's a new look at the Troubleshooting Assistant for iRecruitment (Doc ID 1451641.1):

Three new Troubleshooting Assistants have been published to help you resolve errors in HR and Payroll.
Check out the new assistants:

Oracle E-Business Products New Search Helpers for Guided Resolution of Customer Issues

Oracle E-Business Proactive Support has created many new guided resolution documents that you may find helpful in resolving issues in your EBS applications.  These new documents are called “Search Helpers” and they guide you through your issue to a solution.  They are meant to be an easy and fast method to finding a relevant, complete solution.

Hundreds of notes and service requests were reviewed and the best solutions to these known issues were selected.  For some issues, notes were updated to better clarify the solution.  In other cases, if a note with a solution did not already exist, one was created.

You start the process by selecting the scenario you have encountered.  You may have received an error message, or there may be a particular area of the application in which you have encountered an issue.  Based on your selection of the issue, the Search Helper will present one or more additional possible symptoms.  When you have selected from both of these two sections, you are then presented with one or more articles known to have fully solved this issue in the past.

Several EBS products have produced Search Helpers documents.  Take a look at Doc ID 1501724.1 for an index of the current EBS Search Helpers.

Here is an example of a Search Helper from the Receivables Transactions area:

After selecting the Functional Area of "Entering / Updating Transactions" a list of Known Symptoms is presented:

And, when "Transaction numbers are not in sequence" is selected, a solution link is provided for Document ID 197212.1: How To Setup Gapless Document Sequencing in Receivables.
