Proactively keeping your systems patched with the most current code is an important way to avoid having issues, but you may worry about what impact installing a large new patch will have on the functionality of the product and how you use it.
To address these concerns Oracle Projects development has begun creating and releasing Functional Impact Assessment (FIA) documents with the release of major patches on both R12.1 and R12.2. The documents are being created for point releases (e.g., 12.2.4), release update patches (e.g., R12.PJ_PF.B.delta.6), and cumulative release patches.
These impact assessments include any functional changes implemented in the patch as well as a description of the potential impacts.
With these documents you can be the first to know about new features and API's, implemented enhancements, and functional changes. You can better plan your patching and testing cycles both to take advantage of new features and to insure the continuity of your business processes.
