Coming Soon to MOS - New Interactive Troubleshooting Flows for Oracle Time and Labor and Oracle HRMS (UK)

As part of our continuous effort to improve the customer experience, Oracle Support has developed new functionality which will be appearing next week in the Service Request (SR) logging process via MyOracleSupport (MOS).

We will guide you through targeted questions/answers which are appropriate to the problem types you select when logging an SR.

You will then be quickly taken to one suggested document (maximum two) containing the solution, based on your selection of problem symptoms.

If a solution is not available, all of the information you have provided to this point will be collected and made available in a Service Request.  Additionally, we will point out information you will need to upload in the Service Request in order to provide a clear description of the issue (i.e. log and, output file, versions, and diagnostics).

Other problem types for other products in HCM will be added and we will communicate those via the blog/community. Please let us know what you think when you have used them.  Your feedback is very important to us.

Introducing OTL Analyzer

Oracle Time & Labor Product Support is announcing the new Proactive Diagnostics Script: "OTL Analyzer" that will considerably save the time taken for supporting your issues, and will proactively help you enhance your OTL setup!

This script will include many helpful sections including what current OTL_Diag.sql script has been providing in addition to new sections that fully scans your OTL Setup, and proactively provide colorful reminders/comments/warnings/errors about areas that might cause potential problems in your output. This script will be helpful for both customers and support.

The analyzer will replace the current diagnostics OTL_Diag script that is being used by both the OTL Customers and Support. The following notes can be used to refer to the new OTL Analyzer for setup and running steps information:

  • OTL (Oracle Time and Labor) Analyzer Script (Doc ID 1580490.1)
  • How to run OTL Analyzer as a Concurrent Request (Doc ID 1589250.1)
  • OTL Analyzer Tool FAQ (Doc ID 1596937.1)

This Analyzer / Health Check / Data Collection tool is a PL*Sql script which will check the E-Business Suite environment, and can be executed on all currently released / supported application versions  (i.e., 12.0, 12.1, and 12.2).   As the process executes, it will output diagnostics advice and proactive recommendations within an .html output file.

When reviewing the analyzer output, you can immediately see where issues are identified as they are displayed in red (errors), orange (warnings) or blue (best practices), so that they can be easily seen.  In addition to identifying areas of concerns, the analyzer will also identify My Oracle Support (MOS) articles which can be utilized to resolve the issue.

The following parameters are entered when executing the script and determine the tabs displayed in the output. When the Analyzer is executed, an environment review is performed and feedback provided on:

  • OTL technical information (version, patching, performance, database objects)
  • OTL setup analyzer
  • Employee Preferences
  • Specific timecard data:
  • HXC (Self Service, Timekeeper, API) Timecard Data
  • HXT (OTLR/PUI) Timecard Data
  • Batch information

For Release 12 it is recommended that this script be setup as a concurrent request so that it may be executed by either Functional or Technical representatives from your business.

We have made it easy for customers and provided some ready and safely loaded on Production LDT files to implement all the necessary setup steps.

Download the OTL Analyzer Script (Doc ID 1580490.1) today and provide us your feedback!

Integration between Enterprise Asset Management and Oracle Time and Labor

A new white paper provides an overview of how Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) integrates with Oracle Time and Labor (OTL) in connection with timecard data provided by OTL. The following topics are discussed:

•     Required Setup Steps
•     Process Flow for Integration between OTL and   EAM
•     Basic Technical Details (tables etc)
•     Product Enhancements
•     Frequently asked questions

EAM is the application used to create and implement maintenance procedures for both assets and rebuildable inventory items. EAM tracks the performance of assets (including rebuildables and inventory items) using meters, quality plans, and condition monitoring systems. By effectively monitoring an asset's operating condition, effective preventive maintenance strategies can be implemented.

Oracle Time & Labor is part of Oracle’s Human Resources Management System (HRMS) – it is an intuitive web-enabled timecard solution that completely automates the process of time record keeping.  It can help to control costs and time worked, consolidate timecard information and adhere to organizational time management rules. For employees, it offers a simplified way to submit, review, track and approve timecards.

Employees, line managers, authorized delegates or administrators can submit timecards, and supervisors, managers and/or administrators can review the approval
status on the web. Timecards can be approved automatically or routed for approval using Oracle Workflow.

Hence, the business scenario is as follows :

•    Firstly, work orders are created in EAM to carry out maintenance work on an asset.  There will be operations linked against the work order to carry out the work and these operations will be linked to departments and resources. The resources can then be linked to specific employees who will be doing the work.
•    These employees can then enter timecard data against the above work orders to specify how much time they have spent working on the specific operation for the work order.
•    These timecards are then migrated to EAM where they will result in resource transactions created against the work order.

White Paper : Integration between Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and Oracle Time and Labor (OTL) (Doc ID 1606963.1) describes how the above integration works.
