SR Automation Explained

We have been working hard to improve our time to resolution on the Service Requests you raise by automating the information and diagnostic gathering step. 

A vast majority of Payables SRs will now automatically ask you to provide a specific set of files, depending on how you answer the questions we ask when you choose your problem type.  The system will provide you with a clear action plan shortly after the SR is submitted requesting files e.g screenshots, log files and diagnostic outputs. 

Automation will continue to ask you to provide any missing files, until all the needed files have been provided.  At that point, your assigned engineer will be in a position to begin reviewing your issue and analyzing your uploaded files, with the intention to get you your solution faster.

Easy Assistance for Troubleshooting Issues

As we have discussed in previous blog entries, sometimes it seems like you have to be 'Carnac the Magnificent' when searching for a solution in MyOracle Support (MOS). Besides our previous suggestions on techniques for knowing how to search, sometimes for broad issues, the hardest part of searching is a starting point. Maybe you are having an issue like a problem logging a service request (SR). Maybe you are looking at an issue in your Oracle Database or EBS Product specific area where there are many MOS notes offering solutions. In scenario's like these, the Inventory Blog Team suggests using a Troubleshooting Assistant.  

Troubleshooting Assistants help narrow a search based on a series of questions that guide you to a solution. They are very much like the new 'Guided Resolution' feature that is now available for some SR problem types when logging SR's. They are also available in many different Oracle Product areas, and for many different issues. Wait...what's that? We are divining that you are asking, "How do I find one of these helpful Troubleshooting Assistants?" Well it's very simple oh honorable one. In MyOracle Support (MOS) make sure your Powerview is off, then search using the term ‘Troubleshooting Assistant’. This will return Troubleshooting Assistants across different Product areas. Or use Powerview to search for Troubleshooting Assistants for a specific Product. Or simply select one when you see it during a search in MOS. It's that easy.



Doc ID 1391970.2 above for EBS Inventory/Receiving RVTII-060 errors, is a prime example of a broad issue where there are many possible solutions. The Inventory Blog Team would certainly recommend using this assistant if the RVTII-060 error occurs.

Troubleshooting Assistants are living documents that are regularly updated with recent updated information, so it's helpful to bookmark the docs for future reference. Troubleshooting Assistants are another tool offered by Oracle Support to help with fast and easy solutions, and again, here's to successful searching in MOS!

New Learning Solution for Oracle E-Business Suite

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.4 is Available for Download!

This Release Update Pack (RUP) for the EBS 12.2 release codeline includes new features as well as statutory and regulatory updates, and error corrections for stability, performance, and security. 

This is a consolidated suite-wide patch set. Release 12.2.4 is cumulative and includes new updates as well as updates made available in one-off patches for prior 12.2 releases.

The details for downloading and applying the Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.4 Release Update Pack can be found in the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.4 Readme (Doc ID 1617458.1).

HCM: Introducing the 'HCM Person Analyzer' for EBS Human Capital Management

HCM Product Support is introducing the HCM Person Analyzer - an Analyzer/Data Collection tool to assist in displaying information for a specific person or multiple persons.  The information can be used by both customers and Oracle Support to analyze and troubleshoot issues for a person and their related HCM data (including assignments, elements, periods of service, etc). 

The analyzer provides similar information currently gathered from Diagnosing Oracle HCM Person Issues Using PER.zip Doc ID 168181.1 but in an HTML format.  

 Additional benefits of the HCM Person Analyzer include:

  • Parameter driven, so can be executed for a single person_id  or multiple person_ids
  • Ability to execute the analyzer at any time 
  • Can be setup as concurrent request

 

This is the initial delivery of the analyzer.  Over time, we expect to release enhanced versions of the script which identify potential data issues and highlight My Oracle Support (MOS) articles which can be used to resolve an issue.   

The Analyzer is a PL*Sql script which can be run for all supported application versions (11i, 12.0, 12.1, 12.2) and provides the following types of information:

  • Instance, database and installation details
  • Patching status
  • Person complete information
  • Common Information
