So I heard about the R12.1.3+ EBS Wide RPC, how is that different than the 12.1.3 Procurement Rollup Patches?

For 12.1.3 most of us follow Doc ID 1468883.1 and apply the current Procurement Rollup Patch (RUP) listed, but lately there has been a lot of information being circulated about the Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 1 (RPC1).

The last RUP for Oracle Procurement was released in January 2014 (18120913:R12.PRC_PF.B) and the good news it is included in the new RPC1!  So if you are running R12.1.3 but have not yet applied the January 2014 RUP that is specific for Procurement then you can instead choose to apply this latest R12.1.3+ patch.  RPC1 includes rollup patches for many of our Product Family groups in the EBusiness Suite like ATG, CRM, HRMS, Supply Chain Management and more!

Applying this patch in a single downtime patching window saves effort and time, rather than applying each recommended patch individually.

For more information on the R12.1.3+  RPC please refer to Doc ID 1638535.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 1 (RPC1)

Do your Cross Currency Receipts fail Create Accounting?

A common error when running the program Create Accounting in Receivables is:

ERROR: 95276

The subledger journal entry does not balance by entered currency and there is no entered currency balancing account defined for ledger XYZ.

Please define an entered currency balancing account for the ledger of update the entered debit and entered credit amounts for each subledger journal entry line.

The cause of this error is balancing account setup at the ledger level is missing.

The account type that should be used for this account is a clearing account.  The net functional entries are balanced to zero per receipt and the account should be defined as a balance sheet account (asset or liability).

In 11i the suspense account was used during journal import.  This has changed in Release 12 due to Subledger Accounting Method.

Entered Currency Balancing Account should be defined at Primary Ledger level for Accounting in Cross Currency to take place accurately, for cross-currency receipt applications.

To fix this issue you need to define an entered currency balancing account for the ledger or update the entered debit and entered credit amounts for each subledger journal entry line.

To fix this do the following:

Responsibility: Receivables Manager
Navigation: Setup > Financials > Accounting > Ledger > Accounting Setups

Query the ledger that is raising the error
Click on update Accounting Options Icon
Under Primary Ledger section, locate the concerned ledger
Click on Update icon
Please verify the section: Subledger Accounting
A value must be provided for the field: Entered Currency Balancing Account

To view an illustration of how this is used, please see the following document:

Subledger Accounting: Create Accounting Error - The Subledger Journal Entry Does Not Balance by Entered Currency and There is No Entered Currency Balancing Account Defined for the Ledger Doc ID 969260.1

Sell Services from Order Management

Currently, you can order only service contracts of type Extended Warranty through Order Management.  In release 12.2.2, you can order service contracts of type Subscription Contract too. You can order Tangible as well as Intangible subscription contracts.  Tangible subscription contracts are fulfilled through Order Management. You can record Subscription Contract specific attributes such as Start Date, Period, Duration, and Subscription Template on the order line. As currently supported for standard inventory items, you can attach Extended Warranties to a Subscription Contract as well. Additionally, you can include a Subscription Contract in a model/kit. After fulfillment of the line, a Subscription Agreement is created in Service Contracts.

Currently, when an Extended Warranty is invoiced through Order Management, the invoice amount is for the entire duration of the Extended Warranty. In this release, additional billing options have been introduced for Extended Warranties and Subscription Contracts. The options are as follows:
  • Retain the existing behavior of generating an invoice for the entire duration from Order Management.
  • Generate the invoice for the first installment from Order Management and for the subsequent installments from Service Contracts.
  • Generate invoices for all installments from Service Contracts. In this scenario, Order Management does not generate any invoices.
For the orders that are billed in multiple installments over the duration of the service contract (Extended Warranties/Subscription Contracts), you can specify the billing schedule.

For additional information on this new Feature, refer to the Sell Services From Order Management section of Doc ID 1377743.1 Oracle Order Management Release Notes for Release 12.2.2.
