Australia: Workplace Gender Equality Reporting

From the 2013-14 reporting period, the requirements of the 'Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012' (Act) will be fully operational. Employers will be required to complete and submit online:

  • A workplace profile showing the composition of their workforce by gender; employment status; standardized occupational categories for managers and non–managers; for managers, their reporting level to the CEO; and remuneration data for managers and non-managers
  • The reporting questionnaire covering standardized reporting matters under the six gender equality indicator

Reporting period

The reporting period is the 12 month period from 1 April to 31 March annually and reports are due between 1 April and 31 May.

Who needs to report?

All non-public sector employers with 100 or more employees (relevant employers) are required to report to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) annually.
If a relevant employer’s number of employees falls below 100, it must continue to report until its number of employees’ falls below 80.

For more information on reporting requirements and how to submit online please refer to the following website;

Oracle has released the following patch, which includes functionality for meeting the Workplace Gender Reporting requirement for Australia:

A whitepaper has also been released and is available on My Oracle Support outlining the setup and use of this feature.

Oracle Compensation Workbench: Customizing the Default Download Definition for a Compensation Plan

Many Compensation Workbench administrators require the ability to customize the default download definition at the compensation plan level when downloading the compensation allocation worksheet to an Excel spreadsheet.

Currently, each worksheet manager is required to create their own custom download definition which can lead to inconsistencies and other issues when downloading their allocations data to spreadsheet.

An excellent whitepaper provides a workaround to this issue by documenting the necessary steps to customizing the default download definition for a group compensation plan.  The white paper contains detailed steps, including screenshots.

Check it out!

HCM: Three New Troubleshooting Assistants for HCM...and One Gets a New Look

You may be familiar with the term "Search Helper".  A Search Helper for iRecruitment was introduced last year as an easy and fast method to finding a relevant, complete solution to common issues encountered by our customers.  Search Helpers exist for many products across the E-Business Suite.

Search Helpers have been re-tooled to provide an improved customer experience within My Oracle Support.  Part of that re-tooling includes reformatting and renaming the Search Helpers to one or more Assistants that more clearly define the intent or purpose of the guided resolution.  Whether you are using the Assistant within My Oracle Support to resolve an issue through Search/Browse or as part of SR creation, you will notice a different look to the Assistants, but the same information as was previously available via the Search Helpers will be provided via the Assistants.

Here's a new look at the Troubleshooting Assistant for iRecruitment (Doc ID 1451641.1):

Three new Troubleshooting Assistants have been published to help you resolve errors in HR and Payroll.
Check out the new assistants:

HCM: My Oracle Support (MOS) Not Just for Technical Users

This is a shout out to Functional Users!

Did you know that My Oracle Support (MOS) is not just for technical users, such as your IT Team (i.e. System Analyst, Software Engineers, and Developers) or for use only by your Support staff?

My Oracle Support or MOS is for anyone who utilizes licensed Oracle Applications.  To get a Oracle MOS account simply go to the following - support.oracle.com - where you will be asked to register for your personal sign-on.   Registering is as simple as supplying Oracle with an eMail address, setting your password, and providing some personal information including your name and company name.  Oracle will respond to the email provided with a verification link to continue Registration. For additional information on MOS Registration and Setup, please see the MyOracleSupport Quick Reference Guide.

Your next question, as a customer, is "What now? How can I, as a Functional Contributor, use My Oracle Support?" Isn't MOS just used to log and track service requests and to download patches?

Well the answer to the second question is, No!   My Oracle Support (MOS) provides functionality and collaborative tools that are just as useful to our functional colleagues, as they are to our technical ones.  The most important tool for our functional user is the ability to research the following:

Oracle Knowledge Documentation Library

Oracle provides a rich set of documentation for every Oracle product. These documents have an immense amount of knowledge for each product that Oracle provides. These are dynamically evolving documents and contain a multitude of different types of information, such as:

  • Problem Documents - which describe a problem, cause, and solution
  • FAQ Documents - which provide a compilation of questions and answers for a particular subject area
  • How To Documents - which provide Q & A, or 'How To' perform a specific task or function within an application
  • Reference Documents - which document a procedure or reference information
  • Troubleshooting Documents - which explains how to diagnose/debug a complex issue
  • White Papers - which are authoritative documents usually created by development describing a specific functionality

Next time you encounter an issue within the Oracle applications,  I would strongly suggest that your first step in finding the solution of your problem is to search Oracle's Knowledge Documentation.  It is possible that you could resolve your own issue rather then waiting on your internal support team to contact Oracle for you.

For HCM related Knowledge, I would recommend starting with the following:

This document provides you with a starting point for all HCM Products, and allows you to drill down into documentation specific to an application or function.

Additionally, from My Oracle Support, one can review Online Documentation, Lifecycle Advisors, and Oracle's Get Proactive Portfolio.

An additional resource is the My Oracle Support Community (MOSC) forums which are specifically designed for Oracle's contracted customers only.  In this community forum, you can post your questions with confidence that they will be answered in a reasonable amount of time. This is a community forum and you are welcome to answer other community members' postings as well! (Read Kenn's Proactive blog Why Use My Oracle Support Community (MOSC)).
