Beginning immediately software release, all Oracle or 3rd-party software agents, including management, monitoring, and authorization agents, will be supported on ODA. We will no longer maintain a white list of agents that will be supported. Customers may load any software agent, or write and deploy their own agents. Oracle will provide patches for Oracle software and Linux libraries. Agents that ship as part of the Oracle Linux distribution will be automatically patched as part of our appliance patching process.
Target Support Date: Now
Multiple Oracle Database Homes:
Effective with a future appliance software release, Oracle Database Appliance will support unlimited number of Oracle database homes on each server. The Grid Infrastructure home must be the latest appliance release, but database homes can be any release supported by the appliance. Initial support will be limited to database homes on release 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11 (current).
The Appliance Manager will be enhanced to support creation of multiple database homes and multiple databases. It will be able to create a database home on the latest appliance release and will apply all recommended patches for that release. It will also be able to create a database home on an earlier supported release (18.104.22.168).
Oracle will continue to provide complete patching for the appliance. The patch wizard will give customers the option of patching the infrastructure (firmware, OS, GI) and all database homes, or just the infrastructure. If you patch all homes, all homes (GI+DB) will be brought up to the current release (22.214.171.124). If you patch just the infrastructure, you may patch the database homes independently. We will provide as part of the appliance bundle patch, all recommended database patches for the current appliance release (126.96.36.199). If you choose to have a database home that remains on an earlier database release (188.8.131.52), you must download database bundle patches from MOS, but can use the appliance patching tools to apply the database bundle patches to that database home.
