Double Maximum Memory Capacity for SPARC T5-1B & T5-2 Servers

Oracle announces the availability and support of 32 GB DIMMs for the SPARC T5-2 and T5-1B servers thereby doubling the maximum memory capacity of these servers. The SPARC T5-2 server now supports a maximum of 1 TB; the SPARC T5-1B server module supports a maximum of 512 GB. Increased memory capacity is generally one of the most effective means to provide higher levels of consolidation and virtualization as well as improve overall performance.

Announcement: Oracle Switch ES1-24

On July 9th Oracle announcied the Oracle Switch ES1-24 which expands Oracle's 10 Gigabit Ethernet top-of-rack switch portfolio for Oracle Data Base Appliance, servers and storage.

The Oracle Switch ES1-24 is designed specifically as a top-of-rack (ToR) server access switch with comprehensive Layer 2 and 3 features and wire-speed switching for high performance. In a compact half-width 1U with twenty RJ45 ports of 1/10GBase-T and four ports of 1/10 GbE SFP+, it enables easy migration from a 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps infrastructure by reusing existing copper cabling. It provides for redundant architecture in 1U rack space using two adjacent units and rapid failover with logical link aggregation capability.

The switch is fully tested and supported with Oracle servers, networking cards, storage, Oracle Database Appliance, and operating system for bandwidth-intensive applications in the virtualized environment of the data center.

Please read the Product Bulletin on Oracle HW TRC for more details.
