iWant iPhone, Apple's that is

The Apple, Inc. iPhone is almost old news by now, having been announced on Tuesday. Naturally, there have been raves, some rants (mostly about Cingular), and even legal action. Apple had to know about Cisco's iPhone, since it was all over the tech news when they released the Linksys product, but I haven't seen much press, over the year+ that news stories et al have talked about a possible Apple iPhone, about Cisco enforcing their rights. Still, it's not quite the same situation as kleenex or vice-grips becoming generic terms.
Some of the rants are about the high price, to which I say check out some of the Windows Mobile PDAs in the same price range, and some aren't phones. There's nothing out there like it. Multi-touch touchscreen, Bluetooth, WiFi, OS X, video iPod, 1 piece, cool design. Kinda puts Microsoft's Zune to shame. Apple's done it again, and I want one. I'd better start saving now. :-)

Update (12.01.07) : Seems there is some concern about being able to develop apps for the iPhone, per an interview with Steve Jobs in the NY Times, but having read the article, Steve did say apps would come and not just from Apple, so time will tell. We just may not see the proliferation of apps that the Palm OS inspired.
