GlassFish works on Windows Vista!

GlassFish on Vista GlassFish works on Windows Vista!
I have tried to build GlassFish V2 on Windows Vista OS and able to build and start the server successfully.
The build versions of GlassFish and Vista are as below:

GlassFish Build :
Product : glassfish 9.1
Version : ea build b19
Date : Wed Sep 27 20:41:22 2006

Windows Visa(TM) RC1
For testing purposes only. Build 5734

I ran following steps to build GlassFish on Windows Vista.
  1. Download, install JDK 1.5.0_08 and add JAVA_HOME  and PATH from Systems/Env. Variables.
  2. Download, install Maven 1.0.2 and add MAVEN_HOME and PATH from c:\\sun\\myenv.bat
  3. Download, install TortoiseCVS for cvs client.
  4. Setup %HOMEPATH%\\build.properties to have following values
    • glassfish.os.name=WINNT
      glassfish.cvs.username=<java.net-id>
  5. Logged in to java.net cvs once and checked out glassfish/bootstrap module using commands below:
    • cvs -d :pserver:<java.net-id>@cvs.dev.java.net:/cvs login
    • cvs -d :pserver:<java.net-id>@cvs.dev.java.net:/cvs co glassfish/bootstrap
  6. Start GlassFish build
    • cd c:\\sun\\ws\\glassfish\\bootstrap
    • maven bootstrap-all checkout build
  7. Build complete, configured and started GlassFish server as below
    • maven configure-cluster
    • cd ..\\..\\publish\\glassfish\\bin
    • asadmin start-domain --user admin --port 4848 domain1 <enter adminadmin as password>
  8. All the above steps are documented in GlassFish Quickstart.
Here is the GlassFish on Vista screenshot!

Comments:

And of course, you don't need to build/rebuild glassfish to use it. Binary downloads work just as well ;-)
